DAVE NAVARRO Finishing Up Guitar Tracks For CAMP FREDDY Debut - Apr. 13, 2005
Guitarist Dave Navarro (ex-JANE'S ADDICTION, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS) is in the process of finishing up his guitar parts for the upcoming CAMP FREDDY full-length debut with producer Mike Clink (GUNS N' ROSES, METALLICA). "The album is coming along, slowly but surely," Navarro writes on his web site. "It is hard nailing so many artists down for sessions, including me."

CAMP FREDDY — the Los Angeles-based "jam" band consisting of Navarro, former THE CULT touring bassist Billy Morrison (on guitar), VELVET REVOLVER/ex-GUNS N' ROSES drummer Matt Sorum, and vocalist Donovan Leitch (the son of 1960s U.K. folk-rock icon Donovan) — are expected to release their debut album later in the year via Sanctuary Records. The CD is rumored to be an album of covers, featuring guest singers, guitarists and even the odd guest drummer or two (including former ALICE IN CHAINS guitarist Jerry Cantrell, ex-THE CULT axeman Billy Duffy, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS drummer Chad Smith and singer Macy Gray). An extension of the group's live show, the record will feature 12 songs, the basic tracks for which were recorded last year.

I am always a happy camper when there's Camp Freddy news. Hopefully Fred Durst will have time to record some guest vocals for this release, which is all set to become the BEST ROCK ALBUM OF THE LAST DECADE.

Go, Camp Fredday, go!
