DAVE MUSTAINE: METALLICA Documentary Proves LARS ULRICH Is 'Mental'

MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine recently spoke to The Sydney Morning Herald about his ongoing "feud" with METALLICA, the nerve injury to his arm that brought his career to a halt, and the band's most recent album, "The System Has Failed". A few excerpts from the interview follow:
On METALLICA's "Some Kind of Monster" documentary, in which he makes an appearance:
"If you see that METALLICA movie you can't walk away without thinking Lars is mental. I am over [Ulrich]. He's ancient history."
"Hey, what about what METALLICA and Lars did to [Internet file-sharing company] Napster and the kids? Took them to court. You see the reaction.
"That just shows what kind of people they are, when the kids start deserting them."
On the nerve injury to his arm that brought his career, and that of the-then 19-year-old MEGADETH, to a halt:
"I'm a fighter. I don't quit. I'm probably going to record when I'm dead 'Live from his coffin'."
"I really did fall asleep on [my arm]. I had my arm hanging over the back of a chair and just dozed off. When I went to get up I found the nerve had been pinched off, like a drinking straw being compressed. It was one millimetre at that moment and it had to grow back to four millimetres. I had a specialist tell me that because of the associated electrical problems I would never play guitar again and only regain 80 per cent use of of my arm.
"So the band broke up. But I just said to myself, 'I'm going to play again.' When I was better I realised I owed the previous record company a record, so I thought, 'Hmm, I'll dust off MEGADETH.'
"If you want to know what Dave Mustaine 'solo' sounds and feels like, just dust off MEGADETH. I mean, I've always been MEGADETH."
On reverting to his original approach to music on "The System Has Failed".
"I could do 'Rust in Peace' again, but I don't want to. I could have followed that formula but, God, why? I would have to have done so much heroin and cocaine — and I wasn't going to. Not if I'm paying for it!"

Why would you want to record something like Rust In Peace again? Gee, I don't know, to BE RELEVENT maybe? Also, nice way to attribute the peak of your career to substance abuse instead of you ability. Saying that Dave Mustaine solo sounds like Megadeth gives no indication of what your record would sound like. Some Megadeth albums are metal, some aren't. Some are thrash, some aren't. Some are power metal, some aren't.
How many Megadeth fans do you know can't stand thrash? 5, tops. That's how many 'fans' you would lose by embracing the kind of sound you had in the 80s. How many Megadeth fans like early Megadeth? All of them. I couldn't calculate the number of people that would come back to Megadeth if they got back to business. Business sense says; give the fans what they want, and you will prosper. Give the fans shit, and they will take a shit... on you.

Just because the man answered the questions given does not make him a whiner. it also doesn't mean that he hasn't changed as a person. He told the truth, there are not many including Metallica fans who don't think Lars is mental, a douchebag, or a greedy SOB. And it is wrong what they did with Napster. Dave turning over a new leaf doesn't mean that he can't still have an opinion about what he experienced and voice it-----it's not like he elaborated on it and he also didn't say anything about the rest of the band. As far as TSHF---he didn't want that to sound like RIP, so fucking what. He did that album alone. He has a group of people with him now that have metal in their blood----I'm pretty sure the next album will be heavier but if it's not that's his choice buy it or don't buy it---but STFU because your opinion is not gonna change a damn thing. Number one don't mistake confidence for arrogance and number two i have never seen anyone go as overboard to try and be good to their fans as he does. He interacts with them on the forum, sets up special things for them and fixes problems if they have any with meet and greets and such. He also asks for their input when it comes to making some decisions----like songs to add to the setlist, merchandise ideas they might want, even for Gigantour he wants them to tell him who they would like to see on the second stage, Contests for them to win cool equipment and he even wants to set up after-hour tents to give some local bands time to show what they can do. You Hateful-ass bitches need to get a life and find something to do other than rag on news about any band that comes through this cesspool. Maybe you could try starting your own band and achieving one-fifth of what others you diss have achieved!!! I'm sure you all are Legends in the making with your Holier Than Thou bullshit you spew.

1) I saw the movie and thought Lars was not so bad...which really surprised the shit outta me. Lars was right when he said "We're a metal band! Fuck!" He was telling Hetfield - GET OVER IT!
2) James Hetfield was the one I thought was truely fucked up..."I need everyone to stop working at 4...oh, and no one can talk about the music we recorded when I'm not around." What the fuck is that?!? Hetfield proved he was the one who fucked up Metallica.
3) Dave Mustaine - It's been over 20 years...GET OVER IT!! Megadeth has made just as good if not better music than Metallica over the years. Go your own way!!
That's it...I just hope that Metallica finally puts out a good album (has not been one since the black album) and I hope Megadeth stays together.

Lars was himself, he's been like that since the 80's, and because of what he did, you talk to him like you do now. I loved rust in peace. thought it was one of the best albums i ever bought. HOWEVER, i am glad that no other album sounded like it. IF I WANTED THE FOLLOWUP TO SOUND EXACTLY LIKE THE ORIGINAL, ONLY WITH DIFFERENT WORDS, I'D STILL BE HEAVY INTO SLAYER, to whom i've grown fairly indifferent to. i'm not even gonna touch anything else here. we all know the truth.

i watched the documentary and i was disgusted. You see a "band" here going absolutely nowhere. Kirk speak, nobody listen to him. James try to sing with conviction, it's pathetic and Lars...well, he's Lars but i must admit that he didn't appear that bad to me. I thought James was a lot worse.

You said you would stop talking shit about Metallica and Slayer after Dimes death and now you just proved you are full of shit. You should respect Dime and keep your word. This just show how shallow he is. The last Megadeth album/albums sucked ass. Is he implying that if he made another album like Rust In Peace he would have to do more coke and heroin. Pathetic. Maybe he needs to get back on the drugs so he can make a good album. Dave has lost his fire that he had in then 80's anyway. He is just not angry enough any more.

I watched the documenatary when they showed it on VH1. Lars is just fucked up. He whines the whole time, sounds like a baby when he has a suggestion, and HE IS part of the problem in Metallica's whole 'thearpy year'.
And damn, them recording St. Anger reminded me how bad that damn album was...

Youthanasia is power metal. Generic power metal. TWNAH is rock. CW is schitzo. Half of it is pop, Mastermind is groove metal, Disintegrators is speed metal, FFF is NWOBH almost, She-Wolf and Vortex are standard metal.
The most frustrating thing about Dave is that Megadeth could easily be relevent and kick a lot of ass, but Dave chooses not do allow this because of business (which actually ends up being counterproductive on the business end but whatever). Metallica is not frustating because they could not possibly kick any ass whatsoever because they are and always have been a bunch of lying, talentless, thieving, copycats with no musical ability to speak of.

I will give you $500,000 if you can refrain from mentioning METALLICA or any of the members within any interview or discussion with ANYONE, or you being in that band, or even mentioning your former band in any way, shape or form for a minimum of 3 years starting on this date April 13th, 2005.

i walked out of that shitty metallica movie, buzzed as shit i couldnt take anymore. i try to remember metallica for brutal albums like black and master of puppets, other than that, i wouldnt hesitate to get my blood-infected piss all over those winy pussies. fuck metallica, and for them, i will continue to steal thier music and buy cd's of worthy bands. I wouldnt say he's mental but he is a bit fucking abstract just listen to the way he goes off on one in interviews just talking bollox . Ive seen those signs before... his mind is on a totaly different level ,not the sort of guy you want to get stuck talking to at a party at all. Cliff was the man! I got talkin to the old Metallica tour manager and after he filled our bath with beer & ice we kinda got on the subject of Cliff and how he snapped off all the heads of Kirks starwars figures just to make him cry I really pissed my self laughing when I heard that one I can tell ya!!

James is the guy with the issues slowing the band down and causing problems. Lars is hardworking as hell. I also like Kirk, a really nice guy it seems. Rob is also cool, the mystical, serene kinda guy and a monster on bass.
Anyway issues are issues you can't judge someone because of that. James still managed to go on with the band, there are lots of other people who can't (Axl Rose for ex), so kudos to him. Anyway i'm not judging Axl, i'm sure his problems are very serious. And the whole "they have money so they can't have real problems" is just bs. Money doesn't solve anything, it solves practical problems, but it can put pressure on you and add to your mental issues. Don't judge and stop the bashing, what's the point? It's just stupid.

i havent liked either band for years but...after watching that movie, i didn't mind lars' antics, but mustaine seems like a baby. you got kicked out of metallica DECADES ago. get over it.
waaaaaa. youve made millions from megadeth. he seemed like some 40 yr old guy who talks about his high school days all the time.
i think the movie proved what an adolescent dave mustaine is. although i never listen to metallica anymore, the bashing from dave got old around the peace sells era.

but Dave Mustaine is THE MOST PATHETIC, INSANE FUCKER I'VE EVER SEEN. Calling lars insane? Lars was SO respectful to dave mustaine in some kind of monster. All dave did was bitch about how "everything backfires" just like pastor of muppets said. Everything backfired? What the fuck? The man is a great musician. Aside from that, he should shut the fuck up at all times except when singing. He is a dishonest and disrespectful person, as is clear from all of his contradicting interviews loading with conflicting facts. He must be bipolar or something. He has insulted pretty much everyone who has ever been involved in megadeth besides the current lineup simply because if he insulted them hed be out of a job. Notice he always waits til AFTER they leave the band, so that he can reap the benefits of their hard work and then shit on their dedication. Does he not realize he would be nowhere without Marty Friedman and David Eleffson? Anyways, fuck that heartless bitch.

Metallica was brave releasing "Some Kind Of Monster" for the whole world to see. Big bad Metallica reduced to a bunch of whining little babies. And Dave isn't any better. He does need to let it go and let it die. His last album is better than the last three Metallica albums combined. Metallica may be the darlings of MTV and the suits that decide what the world is going to hear, but Dave writes better songs. I know many many people will disagree, but Metallica is over-rated. Now, blast me!

After Dimebag's death, I remember Mustaine saying that he was not going to talk shit about Metallica or Slater anymore. I thought that he buried it?? Megadeth is worthy of sharing a stage with Metallica, but every time Dave puts Metallica down, it makes Megadeth look pathetic and it makes people dislike him!!!
