ALICE COOPER Parts Ways With SPITFIRE RECORDS? - Apr. 16, 2005
According to a post at SickthingsUK, it is rumoured that ALICE COOPER has left Spitfire Records/Eagle Rock, at least in the USA. This is based on information from a source at Eagle Rock posted to the ST mailing list. Contrary to something said on another board he was NOT dropped by Spitfire, but has simply moved on to new pastures. No news about where he's moved to, or how this effects other territories, but the album, which is complete (according to Alice), is still on schedule to be released on time this summer (June has long been suggested in interviews/press). The CD, entitled "Dirty Diamonds", which is said to be a continuation of the more organic approach found on Cooper's last effort, "The Eyes of Alice Cooper", was overseen by Steve Lindsey, who co-produced Cooper's 2004 duet with rapper XZIBIT, "Stand" (off the official Olympics Games album, "Unity") and has worked with Elton John, Luther Vandross and Leonard Cohen.

Spitfire can't promote for shit. They couldn't sell a school boy to a Catholic Priest. No disrespect to Ozzy, but it's annoyin when he's all over our TV screens and hasn't put out a really solid album since... well a while. Alice on the other hand has put out accessible, quality rocking records each time but is nowhere to be seen as far as radio or TV exposure goes.

I don't bitch about good bands never getting radioplay much, because I know the bands I like are probably never gonna appeal to the mainstream in any way shape or form. Alice on the other hand has the potential to, WITHOUT sounding shit. Here's hopin the label he moves to does him justice.

Most under rated rock artist of all time. Long live the Coop.

maybe w/ a little advertising "Dirty Diamonds" will be HUGE. Spitfire sucks. Coop is king.

I guess there's something about Spring that screams leaving your label.

This is based on information from a source at Eagle Rock posted to the *Spitfire* mailing list.
"Spitfire mailng list" should be "Sickthings Mailing List."

I'm for one excited about this and hope he goes to a bigger company. Sanctuary would be nice. He deserves more than what he is getting.

I dig the Coop, but I can't call him underrated. If he didn't have the famous theatrics & image and if he wasn't in Wayne's World & all over MTVH1, then I'd consider the "underrated" label. I estimate that the number of people who know the name Alice Cooper is around 100,000 times greater than the number of people who know the name Tony Banks.
