DEEP PURPLE Prepare To Release Expanded Version Of 'Burn' - Apr. 21, 2005
Launch Radio Networks reports: One of the most significant albums in DEEP PURPLE's catalog will be treated to an expanded reissue on May 3. "Burn", first released in 1974, was the British hard rock group's first album with its Mach III lineup, which featured singer David Coverdale and bassist Glenn Hughes replacing Ian Gillan and Roger Glover. The new "Burn" sports remastered sound and five bonus remixes of "Burn", "Coronaris Redig", "Mistreated", "Sail Away", and "You Fool No One".

"Burn" peaked at Number Nine on the Billboard Top 200 when it was released and was certified gold.

The Mach III lineup lasted until early 1975, when guitarist Ritchie Blackmore left the band.

Coverdale and Hughes stayed with DEEP PURPLE until the group broke up in July of 1976. The Mach II lineup regrouped in 1985, and Gillan, Glover, and drummer Ian Paice remain with the group. Coverdale continues to lead his band WHITESNAKE, while Hughes records solo albums and also works with BLACK SABBATH guitarist Tony Iommi.

DEEP PURPLE kicks off a North American tour on June 11 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
