IN FLAMES Upgraded To OZZFEST's Main Stage - Apr. 25, 2005
According to Ozzfest.com, IN FLAMES have been upgraded to a main-stage slot at this year's Ozzfest. The Swedish band will open the proceedings on the main stage, where they are scheduled to go on right before BLACK LABEL SOCIETY. The festival billing is now shaping up as follows:

Main Stage:

BLACK SABBATH
IRON MAIDEN
MUDVAYNE
SHADOWS FALL
BLACK LABEL SOCIETY
IN FLAMES

Second Stage:

ROB ZOMBIE
KILLSWITCH ENGAGE
AS I LAY DYING
MASTODON
A DOZEN FURIES
THE HAUNTED
ARCH ENEMY
THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER
BURY YOUR DEAD
IT DIES TODAY
SOILWORK
TRIVIUM

As previously reported, VELVET REVOLVER are believed to have secured the "mystery band" slot on the main stage commencing on August 23 in Albuquerque, NM. VELVET REVOLVER's participation in the tour will be in lieu of IRON MAIDEN, which drops off the bill on August 20.

Ozzfest wraps up on September 4 in West Palm Beach, Florida.

for the love of god why? the last two albums were garbage and noone cares about In Flames in the states anyway.. not enough to play main stage anyway. I'm sure Mastodon or Killswitch Engage have done enough to do the main stage.

No one cares?? If it weren't for them, At The Gates, Dismember, Dark Tranquillity, etc. There won't be any shitty Killswitch or metalcore type bands. They made those bands, and sure as hell fucking breaked them.

Ya' know, I saw Nevermore co-headline with In Flames 5 years ago, at a fuckin' shoebox club out in the sticks, with Shadows Fall opening. Nevermore kick both those bands asses, yet here they are, getting an opening slot on Gigantour (they should rightfully be playing 3rd, and get more time), while In Flames & Shadows Fall get Ozzfest main stage. Fuck that, man.

As I Lay Dying getting billing over Mastodon? Oh well, i'm not going, so it doesn't really matter, I guess...

yeah whatever, in flames has sucks the past few albums. Hell, with your point.. Metallica broke through the thrash movement but they suck now.. same with In Flames.

Im not saying they shouldnt PLAY ozzfest but to be mainstage is a friggin joke.

Eh, I'd be happy if Mudvayne wasn't there. I'm not really into them.

Here's something funny - I was with friends seeing the Summer Sanitarium a few years back where Mudvayne opened... One of my friends called them "Mudvessel" completely by accident while on his cell phone juggling beer... We laughed our asses off.

fuck yeah. 2nd best news i've heard all day (of course you know what i thought was #1 to me today). i wanted at least one of the 4 bands In Flames, The Haunted, Soilwork or Arch Enemy to get pushed to mainstage. it's only fair. good shit. of course i think In Flames should be higher than Black Label Society. fuck BLS.

IN FLAMES!!!!!!!!

arch enemy needs to be on the main stage. get some diversity up there. in flames doesnt have any stage presence. good songs though. i think we need a band that can truly represent extreme metal on the main stage.

No offense Mike W, but I hardly think Arch Enemy can be considered 'extreme metal'. They're too melodic and too easy to listen to. I mean that in a good way of course.

They're probably more extreme than some of the other bands on the bill, but still. Having said that, I don't see what constitutes the 'extreme' in metal. I have a friend who loves death metal and rants on about how 'extreme' it is all day and night. I don't see what's extreme about it at all.

Most of the bands that get labelled 'extreme' all sound the same. I don't mean that as a bad thing, but you can't consider anything that sounds generic to be extreme. Blast beats, angry vocals, and cheesy lyrics about death aren't extreme. After about 5 minutes you get used to it, so how can that be extreme? After a whole hour of it, it becomes so ridiculous that it's almost as laughable as the shitty nu-metal bands. The difference being, the former has talent the later usually doesn't.

I find Linkin Park a lot harder to listen to than Cryptopsy. Does that make them extreme? Extremely bad maybe...

and listen well. all of these bands are mainstream. ozzfest is not about promoting metal, its about making money.

you cannot attract big crowds with unestablished bands. you're surprised In Flames is on the Main Stage? are you really?

ozzfest would be so much cooler if it had a different mission. i would love to see bands that are still working their way up and haven't been seduced by money. bands who are still in love with the PASSIONATE side of making music.

if you want to keep it underground, stay away from this fest. if you want to see the underground dumbing their music down to reach wider audiences.. book your tickets now!

Ozzfest aint band, just don't mix your priorities.

Why on god's green earth is Soilwork playing second on the second stage?? What a joke. It's a shame that all these hardcore bands have so many groupies that they push quality metal like Soilwork and Arch Enemy down to shitty slots on the second stage.
