DEFTONES: New Album To Surface In The Fall

DEFTONES frontman Chino Moreno revealed during a recent radio interview with Zane Lowe of BBC Radio 1 that the group's new album will now not surface until the fall. Said Chino, "I've got another week and a half of vocals to finish up and it sounds really good. We've spent a lot of time going into it and making it something special. We've spent a lot more time on it than on our last record so it's going other places."
DEFTONES have been recording their as-yet-untitled untitled fifth album with legendary producer Bob Ezrin, who has previously worked with PINK FLOYD, KISS, and JANE'S ADDICTION, among others. The band are also said to be compiling a very special 10th anniversary rarities and b-sides CD/DVD that will be out this summer. This "incredible" collection is going to feature never-before-seen or -heard music, performances, and videos spanning the band's career.

i hope this new album is great. cuz the minerva didnt touch me as much. personally my own summer and white pony where the best ones but i hope chino did a good job . good luck deftones

I fully agree. They have about 4 songs worth listening to (My Own Summer, Change in the house of flies, passenger, back to school) and the rest is bullshit. I don't mind Stephen Carpenter as a guitarist, but Chino sucks balls. He can't sing, he can't write lyrics and he treats his fans like shit (I have a friend who's a committed Deftones fan, and every gig he's been to Chino has been drunk off his face to the point of not actually being able to perform properly). They also treat the press like shit, even where unjustified (a Q interview from about 2 years ago was a good example), and they start pointless fights in the media with people who don't deserve it (KoRn, Metallica etc). Waste of Space.

or does it seem like people hate every single freakin band that gets posted on this board? The amount of time so many losers waste posting crap about how they hate bands is unreal, I guess since you have a break from your work schedule at the local Walmart you should come on here and post about how you hate some band. Why this site continues to go forward is insane because it seems like everybody hates everything, people here are such music snobs that no band is ever good enough, grow up you fucks.

Music to do heroin by....a friend of mines girlfriend actually OD'ed to them while on sabbatical in NY.

I like the Deftones as well but hopefully they showcase some of their heavier elements on the new record. "Minerva" was a bland cd. There was nothing really to it and none of the songs really stood out besides "Pins and Needles". Hopefully, they can incorporate the "Adrenaline" and "Around the fur" sound along with their meldoic side as well.

I love Adrenaline to this day but after Around the Fur I just didn't care about this band. It probably has something to do with the fact that around the time of White Pony I read an interview that Chino where he said that they weren't trying to be as heavy with that album... I lost all respect for that band after that. It's too bad because Adrenaline entered my life at an interesting time and I very fond memories of it. God, it's been ten years already... FUCK!

uh, deftones never had albums called "my own summer" or "minerva". those were songs, guys. jesus, you'd think people who talk shit would actually know their stuff. and besides, try listening to their older shit, i.e. 'adrenaline' or their never commercially released 'like linus' before saying how bad they suck. you people bitch and moan about how boring 'white pony' and their s/t are, but you dont really comment on their first few albums, which are far superior to their last couple of outings.

Normally I'd be upset that this was getting pushed back, but Team Sleep will more than suffice as far as holding me over till then. Plus if the album comes out in the fall, that's probably when they'll tour too...and there's already plenty of shit to see this summer. The winter is usually dead, so they'll fit nicely into that season.

Deftones has always had kick ass lyrics and kick ass guitar lines. There music always seems to put together just right. Chino's technique mixed with the bands metal makes a unique feel for the sound. Deftones is definitely always been a kick ass band. I hope this album proceeds them once again. Like many have said before me, the "Deftones album" (Minerva) wasn't as good, and that Around the Fur, White Pony, and Adrenaline were definitely there best. And if you hate them and you hate their sound then don't listen to them and stop posting about them.
