BRIDES OF DESTRUCTION: In Mixing Mode

BRIDES OF DESTRUCTION have finished recording their sophomore album, tentatively titled "13 Acres", and are scheduled to begin mixing the effort today (May 1) for a summer release via Sanctuary Records.
The follow-up to last year's "Here Come the Brides", "13 Acres" was recorded in part at a studio in Malibu, California with producer Andy Johns, who has previously worked with guitarist Tracii Guns on the L.A. GUNS' "Waking the Dead" album (which Guns has referred to as "my favorite L.A. GUNS record."). Johns was reportedly involved with the album during its early recording stages but ended up leaving the project due to unspecified differences with Guns and the rest of the band.
Commented Tracii: "This record overall is a lot heavier than I expected musically, and I think that London [LeGrand, vocals], without taking a ton of direction from 'outside sources,' sounds stunningly amazing and original, except on 'So Long', which [drummer Scot Coogan] sings. More so than our first record we were able to really take everybody in the band's collective influences and explode through with a solid identity and a healthy dose of adrenaline that will make this an excellent record to get speeding tickets to while listening in your vehicle."

Its so cliche for bands to comment on how heavy their new music is. So its funny that BOD does that right off the bat.
This band is simply average. Andy Johns is wasting his time on this.

I dig the first album but overall thought it was a decent release with a handful of good songs. I am almost scared to check this one out with no Nikki involved this time. I will listen before I buy. For all I know it can end up kicking all kinds of ass. Time will tell.

Nikki Sixx's band continues without Nikki Sixx? I thought the whole reason they got any publicity was the line "featuring Motley Crue songwriter Nikki Sixx." I'm confused.

With or without Sixx ... I'll buy this CD, and probably the day it drops. The first CD is one of my all time favorites. I'm not big on the ballads but songs like 'Two Times Dead' just rule. 'Natural Born Killers' has one of my favorite hooks. I, for one.... think Tracii is a legend, London is a great frontman, and Scott is a good drummer with a really solid voice. I don't know who is playing bass. BUT, honestly... for the most part why does anyone care who is playing BASS? It's not like Nikki is a virtuoso or something.
Now, I understand that Nikki has much value as being a good songwriter and pretty much the only real rock n' roll icon of the day. But, has he written anything decent with Crue in ohhhh ... 10 years? I think not. Desmond Child can barely keep the Crue listenable these days. I'm not bashing Nikki or the Crue... I love'em both... just spit'n like I see it.
Let's hear what they have to say - post Nikki - before we start bashing. I defy you not to find a song or two you absolutely love on 'here come the brides' if you just try.

In response to the "nothing decent in 10 years" comment, I was going to write that Sixx co-wrote some nice songs on the self-titled Motley album, but I did the math and you are right, that was 11 years ago. I always keep open ears.
Also, Desmond Child wrote something for Motley? I just assumed he retired from bad songwriting and took a desk job at Clear Channel or Sony or some shit like that.
