BILLY CORGAN To Kick Off World Tour In Early June - May 3, 2005
Former SMASHING PUMPKINS/ZWAN leader Billy Corgan will embark on a world tour June 1 in Portugal in support of his debut solo album, "TheFutureEmbrace", due out June 21 on Warner Bros. Records. Over the course of eight weeks, the modern rock pioneer and his band will visit intimate venues in 11 countries — the U.S., Canada, Portugal, England, France, Italy, Germany, Ireland, Holland, Belgium, and Spain — before wrapping at the end of July. The itinerary includes two-night engagements in such cities as London, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Chicago, his hometown. Fans should expect a vibrant aural and visual experience that reflects the panoramic sound and push-and-pull tension of "TheFutureEmbrace" album, which features the upcoming single and video "Walking Shade".

"TheFutureEmbrace" was produced by Corgan along with Bjorn Thorsrud and Bon Harris, mixed by Alan Moulder and recorded in Chicago. The album contains 11 Corgan originals plus a cover of the early BEE GEES classic "To Love Somebody", which dovetails with Corgan's own themes of devotion and features Robert Smith of THE CURE on backing vocals. Elsewhere, former SMASHING PUMPKINS drummer Jimmy Chamberlin plays on "DIA".

Some confirmed Billy Corgan tour dates are as follows:

Jun. 01 - Lisbon, POR @ Aula Magna
Jun. 04 - Barcelona, SPA @ Apolo
Jun. 06 - Milan, ITA @ Alcatraz Club
Jun. 08 - Gent, BEL @ Vooruit
Jun. 09 - Amsterdam, NETH @ Paradiso
Jun. 10 - Paris, FRA @ La Cigale
Jun. 11 - Cologne, GER @ Live Music Hall
Jun. 15 - London, UK @ Forum
Jun. 16 - London, UK @ Forum
Jun. 17 - Dublin, IRE @ The Ambassador

I hate this fucker. I hated (and still do) The Smashing Pumpkins. James Iha and this fuck once said in an interview that distorted guitars were "soooo passe" and yet Iha continues with A Perfect Circle.

I gotta take a shit.

Billy starts whining that people today have no taste in music and his "art" is underappreciated. I usually don't bash bands I don't like, but I'll make an exception for Billy Corgan since I find him to be a pretentious little fuckhead who thinks his shit doesn't stink when in fact it does...Hope your album tanks Billy.

S.P. was brilliant and I just whish I wrote anything half as cool as the stuff they did. Heavy guitars rule.

On another note, you stupid fucks are STILL comparing rock bands (or nu-metal or anything) to heavy metal, death, etc.

Jeezus, Corn Flakes, you guys have some issues...

I hope it'll be as "heavy" as S.P., as opposed to fall into corporate emo-trap-crap, although it's not like him to be all Backstreet-Boy-ish, so... it should be alright...

man, i can't believe when i graduated high school, some genius thought it'd be cool to have some dumbfuck sing 'Tonight Tonight' as our class song....and have the high school choir do backing vocals! fuck that shit. that song officially became my least favorite song he ever fucking wrote. and Melon Coly and the Infinite Sadness was my favorite album by the Pumpkins, too. i think i'll stick to listening to Zero and Bullet With Butterfly Wings over that sack of shit song.......

Smashing Pumpkins back when they came out, though I haven't listened to one of their shit for more than 6 or 7 years. But Bill Corgan is, always has been, and will continue to be an asshole, and his latest track record does not lead me to think this album will be any good.

IE: when I said SP had heavy guitars, I meant what I meant, AND THEN I SAID SOMETHING QUOTED ABOVE which means "heavy for itself" as opposed to "heavy compared to Pantera, Overkill or Pestilence" you fucking nitwitts. If you understood otherwise, well now you can wipe your ass with this post update.

Also, DON'T ASSUME people are mallkids or only listen to the one band. Morons.

mrpunchy somebody strike a nerve?
I liked smashing back before i knew what good music was when i was 15 right before i started getting into Heavier stuff, that doesnt mean i only like heavy heavy shit there is other stuff that if its done right can be amazing. For instance Zakk Wylde's solo ablum book of shadows it really really good but not heavy at all. Pink Floyd is also some really good stuff

Smashing Pumpkins never claimed to be a heavy metal band, just a hard rock band. They still wrote some really great riffs regardless of how heavy they were. They also wrote some amazing songs that were much more musical than most anything out today. Tony Iommi made a point to put Corgan on his solo record so the guy can't suck that much.

Don't worry--our pal field jameshet usually misinterprets a lot of posts and takes things out of context. I noticed that the "heavy" had quotation marks, connotating relative heaviness to Smashing Pumpkins...

...and while I'm at it, please don't mistake this as a defense for Mr. Corgan as I could never stand his vocals.

has realized that he can't scream for shit. I saw them twice in '93
and they were fantastic. I never got to see them again, but I've
heard a number of bootlegs from spring '94 onwards and the only
good one among them was the Reading Fest boot; the rest of them were HORRIBLE. Whoever told him to (try to) scream everything should be on the top deck of a boat going under a bridge when Dave Matthews' tour bus passes overhead.

blessed be.

I have been a huge Smashing Pumpkins fan since 1996. As much as I love the band, I have quite a distaste for that egomaniac of a lead singer. Instead of blaming other members (ahem, James) for the breakup of the band, he should blame his ego. His music sucks now. He needs to stop.
