DEF LEPPARD Still Planning To Release Covers Album - May 4, 2005
Launch Radio Networks reports: DEF LEPPARD's latest single, a cover of BADFINGER's "No Matter What", appears on the group's upcoming compilation, "Rock of Ages: The Definitive Collection". But it's also part of a larger project, an all-covers album that the group started working on in 2004. Frontman Joe Elliott tells Launch that while DEF LEPPARD's record company wanted to release "Rock of Ages" first, the covers album will definitely come out. "It was a lot of fun, you know, and it's gonna be a great record when it's finished," he said. "We've still got to do the final mixes. There's a few little tricks that we've got to pull out. Couple of vocals I'm gonna revisit. We've got some guitar stuff to still do on it. But, you know, the meat's pretty much all done now. We've just got to put a bit of icing on it."

Besides "No Matter What", the DEF LEPPARD covers album will include tunes from THE KINKS, T. REX, DAVID BOWIE, SWEET, FREE, THE FACES, ROXY MUSIC, MOTT THE HOOPLE, ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA, THIN LIZZY, BLONDIE, TOM PETTY & THE HEARTBREAKERS, QUEEN, THE POLICE and others.

DEF LEPPARD will tour minor league baseball stadiums with BRYAN ADAMS, beginning on June 1 in Portland, Oregon. DEF LEPPARD will play several shows of its own during the summer as well.

"Rock of Ages" comes out on May 17.

Def Lepard Frontman Eliot declared to use his own Def Lepard CD Booklets to wipe his ass when taking a dump.

"The matte paper is more absorbant and biodegradable, but the glossy paper feels like silk on my British ass."

THE KINKS, T. REX, DAVID BOWIE, SWEET, FREE, THE FACES, ROXY MUSIC, MOTT THE HOOPLE, ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA, THIN LIZZY, BLONDIE, QUEEN, and THE POLICE promptly said "Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!" except TOM PETTY & THE HEARTBREAKERS because, well, who cares what they have to say, they're the one band Def Leppard still kicks the ass of.

good god how tough can it be to copy someone else's music for god's sake? in the time you guys have wasted talking about how great this record is gonna be you could have recorded a cd of new material and toured already. and by the way none of your fans want to hear this! we want a new leppard cd that rocks like the old days or for you to retire and go away.

where the fuck is Pete Willis indeed. He wrote all of the good shit that they had. He wrote just about all the music for Pyromania also. Then he was replaced. Then it all went downhill talent wise from there.

They put icing on their meat? I thought they had hit rock bottom when they played at a Wal Mart a few years ago in San Antonio. But now a covers album and a tour of minor league baseball stadiums with Bryan Adams? Please, do us all a favor and retire with the little dignity you have left.
