DAVID LEE ROTH Receives Military Training

ABC ePrep is reporting that former VAN HALEN frontman David Lee Roth just went to Fort Sam Houston, Texas — where the Army medics in Iraq are trained — for military emergency medical technician (EMT) training. Roth was being trained to transport patients to military helicopters. As previously reported, Roth is an EMT in New York, and he says that the tactics he uses as a paramedic are similar to those the military uses. He also noted that unlike some acts, he's not using his commitment to the military to get publicity for his projects.

I should try to get into medical emergencies when in Manhatten, and try to get DLR as my paramedic. That'd be sweet! I wonder if he wears ass-less pants while answering calls, hahahaha.

Deserves some props for what he's doing. I ask ya , how many of you postively "give" ( I know he's paid) of your time for the benefit of others...
Kudos Dave... "Fair Warning", and "Women and Children First "will always be my Favorite Van Halen... Great memories as a free spirited kid just surfing, jamming, and having a God Damn good time!!!!

I have a son, and I usually taste test his foods, and drinks before he does, and that crap is damn nasty!! ...Gatorade, or Powerade works just as good, if not better. Hell, as much as those NFL players are hung over every Sunday, why else would they be drinking it? Thay ain't sipping Pedialyte... that shit is for kids. When my 1 year old is sick, he gets Gatorade.

Pedialyte tastes awfully nasty, but the Gatorade wasn't working this morning. I had to try it and after an hour or so of drinking it (ewww, the memory of the flavor), it made the difference.
And, yes, VH without DLR is without a soul and above all, pointless.

You've got to respect what Dave is doing. Really, he's being a normal dood. He's been doing this stuff for over a year now and not tooting his own horn at all. I'm impressed. I really am. It's easy to find humor in entertainers' lives... especially Dave's. But this is really admirable. As much as I'd love to see a Dave / Eddie reunion.... this is so much more important. You don't give selflessly unless it makes you happy. Good for Dave.

so he's not doing this to promote any of his projects? um should'nt you have a project to promote first before talking about it? and if he isn't doing it for pub then why are we reading about it? is he in the military now and going to iraq? if not then i don't give a fuck there are plenty of everyday people doing the same thing and facing death everyday over there we don't hear about so why must we read about him trying to be some kinda hero he isn't?

Fort Sam Houston is in San Antonio, which is close to Austin...
Maybe I'll see Dave around these parts sometime. Now that would be killer!!
BTW, Dave's Dad, Dr. Nathan Roth passed away a few years ago. 2003 I think it was.
