AUDIOSLAVE On Track To Sell 280K Copies Of 'Out Of Exile' - May 28, 2005
According to Hits Daily Double, AUDIOSLAVE are on track to sell between 270,000 and 280,000 copies of their sophomore album, "Out of Exile", in the United States in its first week of release to debut at No. 1 on next week's The Billboard 200 chart. SYSTEM OF A DOWN have a shot at landing at No. 2, with early reports indicating that the Los Angeles-based group will shift around 200,000 copies of "Mezmerize" in its second week of release after entering the chart at No. 1 the previous week.

AUDIOSLAVE's "Out of Exile" was produced by Rick Rubin, who also helmed double-platinum self-titled debut. The band begin a European tour Sunday (May 29) at the Super Bock Super Rock Festival in Lisbon, Portugal.

This makes it more special: 2 bands that practice 'real freedom of speech' (don't give a crap if a few fans get offended!), aren't fighting for oil control, but for #1 at the music charts! Congrats SOAD++++!!!!

i don't think Chris Cornell was created for mass consumption. i think he's over the average persons head and i know he's over the average "i only listen to metal" head.

then again what the hell do i know i never even been in a band.

Here in Detroit, Porcupine Tree's new release is Top 10 in the local indie charts. The word is getting out. As for Audioslave (and
NIN and SOAD) I'll buy their new one soon.

blessed be.

Deadwing was good but I think In Absentia is their best. Good to see someone else has heard of Porcupine Tree.

SYSTEM OF A DOWN's "Mezmerize", despite coming in at #1 on the US Billboard Charts, also came in at #1 on numerous music charts around the world including those in Germany, Canada, Austria, France, Sweden, Japan, Switzerland, Colombia, Greece, Brazil, and New Zealand, bringing the first week's worldwide sales in excess of 800,000 copies.

..when you only sell no more than 300,000 records.. and land on the #1 Spot on the Billboard Chart, you KNOW something's fucked up.

If 300,000 records these days is a milestone, I cannot imagine in a few more years. 50,000 copies will land you in #1 for 2 straight months.

....how much of a void there is in the hard rock genre these days when 2 subpar bands are 1 & 2 on the charts. I'll agree with RiotAct666 that Cornell was a hell of a lot better with Soundgarden, which was a superior band to Audioslave, but as someome else said on this board atleast there is no pop/hip hop on the top spots for a change, which is rare these days.

most of you are idiots. One of the few times that 2 actual good hard rock bands are #1 and 2 on the charts, and the blabbermouth elite are dissing them anyway. I guess most of you would rather see 50 Cent and Avril Lavigne representing our nation's musical preference instead?

Stop expecting a great Soundgarden/RATM type band out of Audioslave. The styles are completely different, and the chemistry is different. It looks like they're going for a "new classic rock" sound, and the new album captures that very well. Out of Exile is a very good straight-up rock album. Just because your favorite gayass black metal band will never be #1 on the charts doesn't mean you have to shit on the parade of people who actually like good bands who write actual good songs.

And yes, Porcupine Tree is good, but the vast majority of people in America are just casual music fans, they don't give a shit about artistic expression and talent. They just want a 3-4 minute catchy song with lyrics that they can relate to. That's how it is, get over it idiots. Be glad that actual bands with talent are topping the charts for once.

...and also on a major label you idiots lots of people have heard of them and they're selling a shitload more records than most bands, just cuz they arent as big as audioslave or system does not mean they are some unknown band, I saw their new cd at target just a few feet away from audioslave and system.
