'Rock School' Documentary Pulled From Release - June 9, 2005
Launch Radio Networks reports: "Rock School", the documentary about the real-life "School of Rock", has closed after just one weekend on a handful of screens. Sources told Launch that after a very light box office, Newmarket Films opted to cancel the remaining nationwide openings with no word about whether they'll be rescheduled. "Rock School" is about the Paul Green School of Rock in Philadelphia, where students high school-aged and younger learn to play rock music in a structured setting. Alice Cooper makes a cameo appearance, performing his hit "School's Out" with some of the students as the end credits roll.

The producers of Jack Black's 2003 comedy, "School of Rock", have denied that the Paul Green School of Rock inspired their film, although Green contends otherwise.

In addition to Cooper, the "Rock School" soundtrack features MEGADETH's Dave Mustaine, DEEP PURPLE's Ian Gillan and others performing with Green's students.

that was retribution for trying to do surgery and get all analytical about something that should remain spontaneous and free from corporate bullshit . cool that kids learn about all the good music that came out before they were born but . . . teaching them the "proper way"??? bullshit!!! good idea if you are a puppet crap artist like: avril lavigne or whoever else. fuck all the corporate poop posers.

COMMENT | That really sucks.

I saw this movie at SXSW this year. It is an amazing film and Green is an incredible guy.

Of course SCHOOL OF ROCK knocked it off. How can fiction inspire real life? That never happens. Fiction always swipes ideas from real life figures, hence ROCK SCHOOL.

COMMENT | kind of like

how our everseeing webmaster pulls posts down.....is this site based in North Korea, because I don't understand the censorship thing. Even if I get offended,I still wanna read it,and the ones I've posted that have been wiped out...I was retaliating and defending myself. Didn't metal go through shit with the PMRC over things like this...ironic that this is a metal news site.
