EXODUS Part Ways With Guitarist RICK HUNOLT

Guitarist Rick Hunolt has left long-running San Francisco Bay Area thrashers EXODUS, informed sources have told BLABBERMOUTH.NET.
Hunolt was apparently not involved in the recording process for the band's new album, which is currently being tracked at Trident studios in Pacheco, California.
EXODUS' as-yet-untitled follow-up to 2004's "Tempo of the Damned" will mark the band's first release with new singer Rob Dukes. Mixing duties will be handled by Andy Sneap (MACHINE HEAD, NEVERMORE, ARCH ENEMY, KREATOR). Among the tracks set to appear on the CD is "Shovel Headed Kill Machine" (working title), which guitarist Gary Holt has described as "one of the fastest EXODUS songs of all time."
EXODUS recently parted ways with longtime drummer Tom Hunting after Hunting was taken ill and had to be hospitalized several times, according to Holt. He has since been replaced in the group by ex-SLAYER/FORBIDDEN skinsman Paul Bostaph.

Why throw in the substance abuse mention if that wasn't directly the cause? And if it was, just spell it out without the inference. That's very cheap journalism, especially considering what the guy has contributed over the years. Nice way to kick him on the way out the door.
At least wait for the Gary Holt cry-me-a-river explanation that is inevitably coming soon.

I am a long time Exodus fan. First you had Zet leave, which wasn't good but he had his reasons. Secondly, Tom leaves. As good as Paul Bostaph is, Tom's drum sound is a very integral part of Exodus so he is very hard to replace. Now Rick? That's 3/5 change over from just a year ago. I suppose Jack will bail next... I love Exodus but I'm going to approach the next release with skepticism and I don't care how "fast and heavy" Gary says it is. Disappointing news (again).

you all know damn well that Exodus is one of the only bands out there with all this reunion shit going on that has really made a comeback. With no H-Team anymore, I really hope they can keep it going strong. I totally agree with the barber on the bad journalism. Why not just add that he changed religions and that he is now vegan and admitted that he is a hermaphrodite? Get yer shit right assholes and just leave it for an official word from the band themselves.

It does not makeme feel confident about Exodus' future, but I guess Gary is the man who can explain.
A good subsitute for Rick, although it is hard to agree with him leaving, would perhaps indeedbe Tim Calvert or maybe Glen Avelias (ex-Forbidden)?

I have made attempts to start a new thread ot the Exodus forum twice already in order to get an answer, but they have been removed. Don't know whether that means the rumors are true or not!?
I bet Rick is out but Gary is overthinking how to tell the fans. I understand, but again it SUCKS bigtime if Rick is out!!!

he already flies high, in the air as a pilot. I seriously doubt he would give up the last 8-9 years of work it took for him to get his commerical pilots license to join Exodus- no offense to the band.
But that would be an interesting combination- holt-calvert-bostaph... man that sounds pretty good!!
Maybe Gary should talk to craig locicero to see if he is interested.

OK, Gary, time to give it up. Don't even try to carry on under the Exodus banner with 3 long-time members in the last 18 months calling it quits. If anything, call the band something else, don't give us some horseshit sound bite about the potential replacement for Rick "totally fuckin' shreds in the Exodus style!
