WHITESNAKE DVD Due In August, Catalogue CDs To Follow
- June 15, 2005
Launch Radio Networks reports: August 16 is the release date for WHITESNAKE's first-ever concert DVD. It's called "The Rock & Roll, Rhythm & Blues Show Live", and it was shot last October at the Hammersmith Odeon in London, which is one of singer David Coverdale's favorite places to play. Coverdale told Launch that it was a night to remember. "We had 5,000 people from all over the world," he said. "People had come in from Japan, Venezuela, the States — it was extraordinary — and it all came together. Jimmy Page came down to see me — it was just lovely."
The DVD was supposed to be out at or near the start of WHITESNAKE's summer tour, which gets underway next Monday (June 20) at The Big Easy Concert House in Spokane, Washington. Unfortunately, the producer suffered a heart attack, which delayed work on the project.
In addition to the DVD, two separate catalogue releases are also on the way. On September 20, a three-CD box called "Whitesnake Chronicles" will come out, with the albums "Slide It In", "Whitesnake", and "Slip Of The Tongue". Then, a two-CD best-of called "Whitesnake Gold Series" will follow on October 4.
WHITESNAKE will tour Latin America later this year with JUDAS PRIEST.

It's too bad that even Coverdale seems to only acknowledge these 3 albums. Whitesnake's first couple of records back in the late 70's were solid discs of some really good blues-rock.

The "Snakebite" EP is a masterpiece. I was the only 17 year old to own it, 7 years ago! LOL! I think "Dancing Girls" off Saints & Sinners would be an awesome live song even today! It is too bad that he ignores these albums.
COMMENT | actually he does some 70's stuff on the dvd posted by : montegomery burns 6/15/2005 8:19:50 PM
from what i can tell by the dvd tracklisting and from the title of the summer tour it looks like he will be playing songs from 70s in the States. Also you gotta figure, Here I go again and Fool for your Loving are older songs so he touched on that part of snakes career a bit. trust me I'd love to hear some more than that because its only a tease. Wine women and song, Sweat talker, Ready and Willing, Take me with you, Rough and ready.Dont break my heart again.....
COMMENT | David does not ignore those albums... posted by : moresugar 6/15/2005 8:52:46 PM
The record companies in the states do...He has no distribution deal here for those older, classic albums. BUT...He's getting the rights to them in a few years and will release them eventually.
DVD opens with 'BURN' & 'STORMBRINGER'...How awesome is THAT?
