LINKIN PARK Added To LIVE 8 Concert In Philadelphia - June 16, 2005
LINKIN PARK have joined the lineup of artists that will play Live 8 concerts on July 2 that will be broadcast on AolMusic.com. LINKIN PARK will play the U.S. Live 8 concert in Philadelphia. They join dozens of other top artists — some of the biggest names in music — who will be performing all star concerts in five cities around the world to support the campaign to pressure world leaders at the G8 Conference to "make poverty history."

"We are thrilled to be a part of Live 8 and want to do everything we can to bring attention to those in need in order to beat extreme poverty across Africa," said Mike Shinoda of LINKIN PARK.

Live 8 will feature concerts in five cities — Philadelphia, London, Paris, Berlin and Rome — to raise awareness around the world to help eliminate poverty in Africa by encouraging the G8 nations to eliminate debt, increase aid and adopt fair trade practices.

LINKIN PARK will play at Benjamin Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia, joining a line up including: BON JOVI, DESTINY'S CHILD, DAVE MATTHEWS BAND, JAY-Z, KAISER CHIEFS, KEITH URBAN, MAROON 5, P DIDDY, ROB THOMAS, SARAH MCLACHLAN and STEVIE WONDER with Will Smith as host. well, for it to be an actual charity event, 10% of the proceeds go to the cause. Only 10%. You can bet w/ a bill full of under-talented, over-priced acts, none of them actually give a shit about the situation in Africa, just want to get PAID.

Who the fuck is the KAISER CHIEFS anyway? All those acts suck. Stevie Wonder is tolerable, thats about it, the rest can die

That was my point exactly.

but just like the first live aid concert, a great deal of it will wind up in the hands of the oppressive and corrupt governments who use poverty to control their people.

plus these clowns always seem to help africa, africa. Yet where is the crusade to help starving peoples in Asia?

Where are the crusades to help starving people in their own countries?

Its all well and good to help out, and have such ideals, but when you still have homeless and hungry people on the streets sitting out in the cold begging for money, shoudln't you start with them, where your help and charity can immediately be of use? rather than give to a celebrity run organization that already has a record of failure in Ethiopia?

i'd rather see the one in England because the real Pink Floyd line-up (with Roger Waters) will be playing for the first time in 20 fucking years. That would be some cool shit.

just because they are on the bill doesnt mean its gona make more money for live8!!
if they wanna do something for charity, they should do there own gig where every penny goes to charity.
if they did that then fair play, but they wont so up your arse.

Pink floyd in america? Good lord, I DREAD the thought of how much tickets would be. I'll tell you, way too fucking much. It'd be a show for nostalgic purposes, I bet their shot by now.

If PF toured, I wouldnt pay more than $35 to see it.

All the concerts are FREE. No money is being made, so there is no money for them to make. If anything they are losing money in lugging themselves, all their shit, and the cost to facilitate the shows.

for Stevie and Sarah...but godDAMN the rest of that lineup fucking SUCKS. I'll spend the money I would've wasted on gas, food, etc. on something worthwhile...like, say, tix for Gigantour, NIN and Esthero.

blessed be.
