STRATOVARIUS Part Ways With Longtime Bassist - June 19, 2005
Finnish melodic metallers STRATOVARIUS have parted ways with longtime bassist Jari Kainulainen. In a posting to the band's official forum, STRATOVARIUS mainman/guitarist Timo Tolkki writes, "Some of you have heard rumors that Jari Kainulainen has left STRATOVARIUS. Unfortunately I have to tell you that they are true. This is due to personal reasons. We will release official statement regarding that soon."

STRATOVARIUS' new self-titled album is scheduled for release on September 5 via Sanctuary Records. A video for the album's first single, "Maniac Dance", was shot on April 15 in Helsinki by director and guitarist Timo Tolkki's old schoolmate Antti Jokinen (BEYONCÉ, WYCLEF JEAN, KORN, MISSY ELLIOT, NIGHTWISH, SHANIA TWAIN, CELINE DION).

STRATOVARIUS will be teaming up with INTO ETERNITY for a North American tour beginning in mid-September.

When Timo Tolkki was being randomly attacked by guys with boxcutters. Now those were entertaining Blabbermouth stories.

I agree with the above crowd. The days when Timo was crazy and getting attacked will always be entertaining. Now we have Head housing Lepers to keep us amused.

"Nightwish aren't Swedish you piece of shit"

..and neither aren't Hanoi Rocks =)) Or Stratovarius, in a matter of a fact. IMHO the new album is healthy rocking and produced with different kind of soundscape than what Strato has done before, more dirty and more punch into the face. The first song Maniac Dance doesn't even sound like Strato, when I 1st heard it I was sure it's some new shit from Mötley Crue or so =)) Good to see the guys, specially Timo, got the act together so to say. Who's the new bazzist then?

On June 20, 2005 in Itla-Sanomat, a Finnish newspaper, TT said in an interview he was thinking about writing/proposing a rock opera starring possibly Miss K and Michael Kiske! If anyone reads Finnish you may archive that&see if its true, but the interview is definitely there!
