Mywar.....the original punk....DRI,Misfits,Dead Kennedys,Black Flag,....died a loooong time ago.
Now you turn on the radio and everybody sounds like they wanna be punk.(on the mainstream stations, and yes, sometimes I am forced to be subjected to that)It's so commercial and accepted now its just sickening.

Punks not dead it just deserves to die
when it becomes another stale cartoon
A self centered close minded social club
where ideas dont matter its who you know
if the musics gotten boring its because of the people
who want everyone to sound the same
who drive the bright people out of a so called scene
till all thats left is just a meaningless fad

Venom were extremely influenced by punk, they stated so in countless interviews and you can clearly hear it on their first two masterpieces.
They were even labeled "long haired punks" by the press.
They fucking rule and i'll buy this tribute for sure.

But who the fuck cares there's still GREAT punk bands in the underground, mainly the CRUST PUNK scene from Sweden.
Check out bands like Disfear, Acursed, Skitsystem, Diskonto, Driller Killer, Wolfpack/Wolfbrigade: They kill.
Crust sounds like Discharge meets early Extreme Noise Terror: NO FUCKING COMPROMISE.

The punk scene's demise is a lot like the Black Metal scene's demise. It was a musical style that was never invented, but rather, the creation of both genres was a naturally occuring direction that several unrelated bands took during the same time in history. Since then their have been many sound-immitations; but the original idealisms were what fueled the original bands, and any of the members from the originals of both genres (Mayhem, Burzum, Darkthrone --or-- Black Flag, The Ramones, Misfits) will openly say that it was never a group of several different bands collectively saying "let's start this new style", it was a sound and idea that felt right in that point of history.

What all that had to do with a Venom tribute is beyond me...

a punk band tribute sounds cool though.

Of Blackest craft - Right on.

I must unfortunately say the bands names are Quite shit ::

LIMECELL
STOOL SAMPLE

Puh leez - where the fuck did they get these bands from ???

The only one I actually thought was kinda cool was
SEVERED NUNS ??

VENOM Was heavily influenced by punk although personally I admire and adore the energy in their music - I have never felt a - PUNK - ambience as such - yet Nevertheless the influence is solid and factual - mostly coming from Conrad Lant .... I guess....

I will get this - Listening how other bands transform / changes a cool bands' songs and does it in their own unique way is cool.

I would love to hear Big bands do some Venom ::::

Imagine :

IN FLAMES doing "Chanting the Priests"

or

OBITUARY doing "Welcome To Hell"

I know for a fact - ROTTING CHRIST do a cover of "In league with Satan" although I have never heard it - that must be fucking cool.....

Kull, you 'Hellchild'

"I'll give you a newsitem older than you."

That was funny, I laughed my ass off !!

The original punk did NOT die a loooong time ago. I've seen Jello Biafra with the Melvins (supported by Fantômas with Terry Bozzio behind the drums!) yesterday and Mr. Boucher is alive and well!

"California über alles!"

I've never heared of the bands on this compilation though...

I'm sure you know there is a tribute out with "big" names covering Venom songs. It is excellent, my favourite covers are Voivod's "In League With Satan" and Paul Di Anno's "Black Metal". Check it out.

"i dont like punkrock" ....WHO CARES...?? "venom doesnt sound like they use to!" No ! the eighties are gone and never coming back! live with it or get lost! VENOM still rocks! and so do all the bands on this tribute! They still play and live their rock`n`roll lifestyle... what are you moaners doing? I rest my case! have a nice day!

This is the sort of stuff that gives this industry a bad name and makes your parents want to advise you to get a 'proper job'.

A friend of mine is a member of one of the bands on this tribute album, he tells me that the label got all of the bands to 'give' their recordings for free, and they aren't paying them any royalties, or anything from this, so the label manager (Oeb) gets to keep all of the money made from this album, while all of the bands have to get day jobs to pay for the studio time it cost to record these songs.

I think the words "you dirty rip off bastard" comes to mind!

You certainly are having a nice day, you fucking scum, I rest my case!

Hey sorry for moaning and complaining about everything, but I just thought people should know the truth, I wouldn't be moaning and complaining if my friend had made some money so he could afford to buy a beer or two for his hard work.

Maybe your drinking champagne?

...well... you must know what the truth is... mr boohoo... If you`re rightly informed you know the deal was that everybody got a share of the cd`s pressed.... paying royalties over a cd ONLY THOUSAND PRESSED??? haha no... couldn`t get you 1 beer..... paying royalties? yes i had to: SINCE THEY`RE ALL VENOM SONGS! i had to pay em, but they go to venom, they wrote the songs, not the bands on the trib! thats how it works, mr boohoo knows it all! so get that head out of the a**hole! i dare you to join madskull recs and become my partner, you wouldn`t be able to buy a beer in the next 2 years!!! and if you`re for real, respond to me by mail and tell me your name and the band`s name and we`ll talk further... otherwise you`re a lowlife chickens**t

Oeb is correct, I know 100% sure that he paid a LOT of money to get the rights to use the songs on the Tribute CD. I actually helped put Oeb in contact with the various companies needed to get permission to use the VENOM songs, and I saw all the paperwork and all the expenses involved, etc. And I can promise you all - Oeb would need to sell a HELL of a lot more than 1000 copies to get his money back on this release. And as the man said, he wont even have 1000 to sell, all the bands involved got an x amount of CDs, and Oeb also sent me 50+ CDs, which I distributed to various HM magazines, etc, for review.
To iamheeboo and the band you know - Well, yes, in a perfect world all the bands involved would get millions for contributing to such a worthy Tribute to the mighty VENOM, etc. But as I said, Oeb wont earn one cent from this release, and at least, all of the bands involved will get very good publicity through all the website/magazine reviews, etc.... and I really hope at least some of the bands will hit the big time because of being involved in this release, and I am sure that it will benefit all of the bands involved to take their careers to the next level...

All hail Oeb!! And respect to all of the bands who were involved in this great tribute to The BLACK METAL GODS!!

So all you can think of is to call me names? how old are you? and attacking in defense doesn't change the facts.
This is an open forum, I'm only reporting what I was told, I'll be the first person to admit I don't have a clue about the music biz, I'm a carpenter, but I wouldn't be able to live if I went home to my wife and 3 kids with some 2x4 planks and a bag of nails as payment, so giving them copies of the album as payment seems very odd to me, if this is how this business works I wouldn't want to be a musician.
So you reckon you gave them a 'big break'? with only 1000 copies? how almighty of you and your 'sons of satan' monkey, "you scratch my back and I'll scratch my back".
lol :)

first of all: i don`t like to call anybody whatever... but hey, look at your own response: "you dirty rip off bastard" & "you fucking scum" ? ..... you don`t even know me.... and you didn`t know the deal between me and the bands! so how can you judge me?
second: i am a mucisian too for 20 years now in different punk/metal/hardcore/rnr bands, so i know what i`m talking about... it never pays unless you`re a big "well known" band! the bands i played in were never properly paid for a gig, for a studio recording etc.... i think i gave everybody a good deal for only a one song contribution (20 cd`s for each band! and with 22 bands on that cd means 440 cd s of a 1000 i had to give away! and then some for promotions etc... that leaves me about 450 to sell....)
so i hope you understand my point of view, and hell yeah....lets stop the name calling.....
sometimes it just pisses my off that people think that i am some money grubbing dickwit coz i run a label..... like i said: before i pay off all my debts , it`s 2008!
cheerz,
