QUEEN Guitarist Confirms North American Tour For Next Year
- June 22, 2005

|
Launch Radio Networks reports: The QUEEN + PAUL RODGERS tour that was expected to hit North America later this summer or in early fall has now been officially bumped into next year. QUEEN guitarist Brian May confirmed what Launch reported last week — that the Western Hemisphere will get a few key shows in 2005, but the bulk of the road work on this continent will be in the early part of 2006. "The current plan is to come and do Aruba, which is a long story — don't even ask! (laughs) — and, and then to do New York and L.A. and make a little noise, and then hit Japan, where we have an offer to do some fairly big stuff, and then get back to the States to do the main stuff in the spring," May said.
QUEEN + PAUL RODGERS have a couple of shows left in Europe in early July. They've already announced shows in Aruba on October 8 and Tokyo, Japan, on October 26.
A live album called "Queen + Paul Rodgers Rock Live" will come out September 13. The first single will be "Fat Bottomed Girls" and "Reaching Out"/"Tie Your Mother Down".

Sorry, Paul Rodgers with Queen just sounds wrong! Bad Company meets Queen, sorry it don't work. How can Paul Rodgers sing Freddy Mercury stuff! Total different style singers here! They could have found a better signer to suit their Queen songs!!! It doom to fail! Just doesn't make sense to me! I like Paul Rodgers so don't get me wrong but singing Queen songs, sorry not going to work. Will ruin the Queen songs! And I am more of a Bad Company fan than Queen!

that queen built with freddie mercuy. this is as terrible as the doors of the 21st century. there are certain frontmen that can't be replaced freddie mercuy and jim morrison being two of them. this is making me lose some serious respect for brian may!

saw doors of 21st century for 15 bucks the other day, the dude is a complete ripoff of everything morrison and it's just weird. Even though rodgers isn't a ripoff of mercury he's definitely just a complete different style. Freddie was more classically organized with music and no one can fill those shoes at all!
Originally I had heard they were gonna do a little world tour hitting all big spots with a bunch of different people singing the songs (similar to the freddie tribute concert they had a while back) that would've felt at least a tad bit safer than having someone fill the whole void by himself.....guess they couldn't get enough of the voices they wanted to commit......

Queen-just a good ol' rock n' roll band. Brian May is everything a guitar player should be, so him with Paul Rodgers should kick ass!

Queen does not exist anymore and will never exist again. Queen died on 25 November, 1991.

i never said anything bad about rodgers, I think he's a great singer. I was commenting on his ability to be a fill in.
i'm sure they'll still put on a great show, but as rasselkopf said "queen died on 25 november, 1991" it won't be a Queen show, it'll be a Queen + Paul Rodgers show (and i'm mighty happy they're labeling it as such). I'll still be there regardless cause I'm sure it'll still be a blast!

You can never replace Freddie. Everyone knows that. But look at it from this angle: there were other members of the band besides Freddie who were intergal parts. I'm sure they just want to play the music they helped create. No, Freddie is not there, but let's let these guys have some fun with what they love. Queen. The Doors. INXS. They just want to play thier music. They're not trying to fool us. Everyone knows the frontman isn't there. But it wasn't just those frontmen that created this fantastic music.
I say good luck to them and as long as tickets are under $40, I'll be there.

period.
why the #$%^$%& do you think Freddie sang that song so well when he was almost dead on his feet?
He wanted Queen to continue.
If you don't, too bad.
If that's the way Freddie wanted it, then you have NO right to bellyache.

Queen had more than Freddie's vocals going for it, or doesn't the name Roger Taylor mean anything to you?

John Deacon is the only one who has some integrity, Brian May and Roger Taylor are great musicians but they are ruining the Queen name. They said in '91 Queen was to an end, but now all of a sudden (and for a couple of years) they are milking out the Queen name.
Paul Rodgers doesn't even fit in with Queen, if they were this determined to go through with Queen they should've chosen George Michael because he fits Queen like a glove. (Somebody to love anyone?)

I don't agree that Queen are milking it. They have enough money. I think the Queen fans will really want to hear these songs again. However, whilst Paul is great in his own right, I don't think he right for Queen. The band could do with a gay camp singer - George Michael would have been excellent. I know, he's not metal or rock, but when he sang Somebody To Love me at the Freddie Mercury tribute gig, he was awesome. Forget, George being gay (if that's a problem for you). Forget his music if you don't like it. However, George would really have done the Queen songs proud. Even Robbie Williams would have been better then Paul Rogers.

why are people being concerned?? It's only a tribute to freddie, and to keep the queen legend living on, I saw queen at hyde park on 15th july, and it was AMAZING, of course he can't replace freddie, but it's not the orginal queen anyway, also it's not just freddie's band... it's the rest of the band's music, and it DOES fit together, why don't people actually watch a show of the tour or listen to a queen song with paul rodgers singing! As Brian May said: "Think of it as a different band" You'll get the idea...
