GOD FORBID Complete New Album; Embark On U.S. Headlining Dates

New Jersey metal titans GOD FORBID recently completed the recording process for their highly anticipated new album, "IV: Constitution of Treason", set for a September 20 release via Century Media Records. The group tracked the new offering with Jason Suecof (TRIVIUM) at Audiohammer Studios in Florida and with Eric Rachel (ATREYU, THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN) at Trax East in New Jersey. The mixing duties are currently being handled by Rachel and should be completed the end of the week.
Dallas Coyle (guitars, vocals) checks in with the following studio report: "Dallas here checking in from the studio where we're just about to put the final touches on the new album, 'IV: Constitution of Treason'. Eric Rachel, Doc and I have been here mixing all the songs for the record and I'd have to say this is the most amazing stuff we've put to tape. For the first time I'd say this is exactly what GOD FORBID should sound like. Our friends who have heard the record say we sound like an entirely new band. This new material is many steps above 'Gone Forever' and a new pinnacle us as a whole. Our evolution is complete.”
GOD FORBID will also embark on a slew of headlining shows in July with FULL BLOWN CHAOS and HIMSA, among others. Confirmed dates are as follows:

Jul. 02 - Grand Rapids, MI @ The Intersection
Jul. 03 - Omaha, NE @ Sokol Underground
Jul. 04 - Des Moines, IA @ Sleepy Hollow Sports Park - Iowa Metal Fest
Jul. 08 - Latham, NY @ Saratoga Winners
Jul. 17 - Sayreville, NJ @ The Starland Ballroom

I'm not too sure what you mean by melodic black metal, maybe like progressive, symphonic or epic?
One band I like, which is really just a spawn of metal itself, is CEMETARY. It's very slightely dark and very much metal. Check www.allmusic.com and search for their bio.
Otherwise, I don't know.

The buzz on these guys kind of died down and other bands in the same subgenre have jumped to the top of the heap, so I think it would have been a bad idea to try and stick with the same sound as Gone Forever. While I did like that album a lot at first, it fell out of my rotation and not many songs stood out from each other. It sounds like they're poised to evolve beyond that...Now the question is, did it evolve for the better or worse? Of course the band will say better, and so will their diehard following, but the fringe fans will ultimately be the judge. I think after this album God Forbid will either be catapulted up there with the same kind of exposure as a Lamb of God or Killswitch Engage, or they'll end up disappearing into their shadows with the rest. This is their chance.

this band has some of the worst clean vocals i have ever heard on their Gone Forver cd. can't see how anyone would let them record that. gave that cd two listens and i couldn't stand it and i will most likely ignore this new release
