CONFESSOR: Oslo Concert To Be Filmed For Upcoming DVD - June 28, 2005
Vocalist Scott Jeffreys of the reunited progressive doom-metal legends CONFESSOR has sent the following update to BLABBERMOUTH.NET:

"CONFESSOR will be heading to Oslo, Norway to play the Sonic Solstice festival put on by Season of Mist Records. Also appearing will be ARCTURUS, RED HARVEST, NATTEFROST and TSJUDER. Season of Mist is putting together a huge film production for the shooting of a DVD dedicated to each band. Along with the live footage from Oslo, there will be footage from the latest CONFESSOR studio sessions, old footage from live shows back in the '90s and possibly small type of drum clinic from our drummer Steve Shelton going through and explaining some of his drum patterns in various CONFESSOR songs. And time permitting, the brand new CONFESSOR music video will also appear on the upcoming DVD. The date of the DVD filming is September 24th at Rockefeller's in Oslo.

"Look for the CONFESSOR article in the next issue of Metal Maniacs."

CONFESSOR recently completed work on their new album, "Unraveled", due out in early fall. The album was produced by Dick Hodgin (ex-CORROSION OF CONFORMITY producer) and is said to be "a wonderful representation of the classic CONFESSOR twisted guitar riffing and complex drumming, meshed with some more straightforward parts and a toned down and very melodic vocal approach," according to Jeffreys. "We feel that the new album will certainly appeal to the old-school CONFESSOR fans and also will attract a brand new fan base who might not have heard us when we were together before."

CONFESSOR split up in the early '90s after releasing one full-length album (1991's "Condemned") and EP (1992's "Confessor"), with the with the rhythm section going on to form FLY MACHINE. CONFESSOR reformed in 2002 following the death of guitarist Ivan Colon, who passed away due to cardiac complications.

'Condemned' remains as one of the best pieces of recorded music ever. From what I've heard of the new material, 'Unraveled' should be killer!

I'm getting very excited about this new album & now this DVD news! I've been playing Sour Times & Hibernation from the new EP quite a bit recently. Good to have Confessor back & now with more accessible yet still great vocals. I sure hope they get to tour the US and come out to the Seattle area.

COMMENT | I agree that Condemned is a classic..

Loved the awkward offbeat drumming, the quirky but brilliant riffing and solos, gawked at some of the vocals...Still I would not class this stuff as doom?

COMMENT | I'll be there
