LEMMY Films Commercial For WALKERS Potato Chips

Kay Harrison of icThewharf has issued the following report: MOTÖRHEAD wild man Lemmy spent a day snacking with Gary Lineker and lads mag favourite Lucy Pinder at West India Quay. The unlikely trio were in the area last Wednesday (June 22) to film a new Walkers crisp (potato chips) advert. The singer, best known for heavy metal smash "Ace of Spades", was shot by camera crews on a motorbike outside Scuzi. He was then seen to snatch crisps from model Lucy, who was serving food from a trailer and wearing a tight, low-cut blue dress. Lemmy took a break from filming in the sweltering heat to feed the fruit machine in Wetherspoon's. Drinking cola and chain smoking Marlborough reds, the 60-year-old rocker said: "Yeah, we're just doing this f****** crisp ad. We're just walking about eating lots of crisps. They're paying lots of money, else I wouldn't be doing it." One surprised drinker said: "You wouldn't have thought the bloke from MOTÖRHEAD would be interested in winning £15 off a fruit machine." Lineker, who has been the face of the crisp brand for 10 years, finished filming by noon, but Lemmy and Lucy continued well into the evening, spending hours and dozens of takes on each scene. At one point, the director instructed Lucy to hide her heaving chest behind the crisp packets as Walkers were "a bit sensitive about cleavages." The model was later told to give Lemmy, wearing tight black leggings, boots and black shirt ripped to the stomach, a "flirtatious look" over the food counter. A worker on the set revealed Lemmy's starring role meant he would never have to pay for a packet of ready salted ever again. But after eight hours filming, the grizzled rock god might be passing on potatoes for some time. MOTÖRHEAD are currently on the road as part of their 30th anniversary U.K. tour.

I've been checking blabbermouth out now for about a year, maybe longer...
I've worked in the record business, now I work in television. 80 percent of what I've read on here is bashing and neanderthal comments. Not one of you fucks know anything about the music business. Why do you think people are in bands? Do you think it's fun to tour endlessly, make many stellar records, play hundreds of shows across the world, and not make much money in the outcome? NO you cumsticks. Money and seeing the world is a lot of what drives artists to do this. Lemmy has been outspoken about not making much cash...he isn't ashamed. He's not shit broke, but he's not shitting in tall cotton either. When I lived in L.A, I would chat with him occasionally at Jumbo's Clown room. He's down to earth, tells it like it is, and has heart. He's more "metal" and "rock" than everyone here, including me...
The fact he does an ad for chips is no fucking deal. He's gonna have to retire one day too...Just like everyone of you dip shits here. And, if any of you have the balls to sell your soul, your life, to the music business go ahead...but be prepared to not make anymore than an average salary. See then how "metal" you stay. Leave the confides of your mom's basement and live with your bandmates eating pasta and sandwiches, showering when you can, calling mommy when you can, and not having a life for 6 months AND still come up short on money. Talk metal after you've done that and seen what's it's really about. If any of you were smart, you would go and buy these fucking chips all the time and help support something that's giving Lemmy some well earned cash. Pick and choose assholes. (that's a double meaning for you short bussers)
Now. My rant is over. And I'm ready to talk real music issues.

The royalty cheque he got for writing the song's on ozzy's no more tears cd was more than he ever made for all the motorhead albums combined.

its funny that he did the commercials for Kit Kat and the Chips..He deserves every penny of everything. His contribution to metal is priceless, yet he's been completely screwed over most of his musical career, while these watered down nu-metal shit bands rake in all the money. He's more rock and roll than any band in metal today, and you better god damn hail.

I bet if Walkers asked any of you to do an advert for them for lots of money, you would do it in a heartbeat. Motorhead have made two wrestling theme songs for the WWE as well, I bet they got paid shit-loads for that. Lemmy also has probably done numerous adverts for different products over the years...doesn't mean he has sold out, just means he is smarter than most people who would say no and not take up the chance to earn an extra buck.

Well, I never claimed to be a "big shot" nor did I claim to be the be all end all in tune land. You guys just got upset at what I said.
And about the "vultures" in the record business...Yeah, there are some. But, the fact is...well, let's put it this way. Do you know how much it costs to have an album recorded? Just recorded mind you, not mixed...then sent to mastering...then pressed...not to mention promotional costs, tour costs, merchandising, etc??!! Someone has to pay for it up-front...and it ain't the band! So, who do you think is going to want their money back first...before the band sees any cash. Merchandising is usually where the labels try and fuck the bands...cuz, they are scared they won't see their return...my answer stop signing shit bands and flavour du jours....most bands will pay for their merch and sometimes touring...but if you're traveling across country you better get sometime type of bus...I've done it in a van, and it ain't fun. PLUS, how much do you think it costs to get on a major tour? To tour with Ministry it costs $10,000. You pay that, jump on board with merch, cds, etc...and hope to make your money back, you usually do. But if you're not paying that upfront, the label is....so enough preaching...cuz, most of you will comeback with something moronic again without thinking...so let's pick a comment I said and run with it. Maybe, the shit band comment rather than trying to demean my so-called knowledge and legitimaticy. Why not wonder who I think are shit bands and then we can bitch about that...unless you guys would rather have "music business 101" all the time.

There are many different possibilities how to run a business.
Like any other business there is.
How a band sets it up is how they are going to get paid.
And most of all - there are barely any comments on Lemmy as a sell out. Mine was a joke as indicated, and 98% of others were seemingly joking too.
I'm surprised that people are whining about the bashing that isn't there.

Yes, there are many ways to set up a business...
my music project does fine selling cds at shows and playing when we can to a packed house. But, you know what, without paying start-up costs you ain't gonna be selling out big venues unless you do as I said in my first post about touring...then, someone is still going to flip the bill for something, unless the band is a bunch of rich kids, if so, the music usually sucks. That's just the way it works. Contracts are everywhere in this world, not just the music business...wait until you buy a house, you'll sign a contract then and you won't like some of it...what are you going to do.

Well, I'd like to see what you do timm if Warner hands you a four album deal with tour support, 50% merch support, 100% promotion, maybe you'll have cross-collaterlization/maybe not,
a 500,000 to a million dollar advance, plus pay for production costs....OR what you would do if at the same time some small indie says, "yeah, we'll do some promotion and get your product in the stores and help with merch, and a friend of ours has a demo studio down the street and we'll help with that too" Yeah. I'd like to see who you would choose then.
