MUSHROOMHEAD Rejoined By Former Vocalist At Cleveland Show

Ex-MUSHROOMHEAD singer Jason Popson (a.k.a. J-Mann) rejoined his former bandmates Saturday night (July 2) to sing a song at a packed Peabody's Down Under night club in Cleveland, Ohio. Jason, who is one of the singers for THE ALTER BOYS and the lead singer for (216), sang the song "Ego Tripp" to a surprised group of fans there to see the first of two days of back-to-back MUSHROOMHEAD "old-school" shows.
Popson's THE ALTER BOYS project are scheduled to play Peabody's Down Under on July 16.
As previously reportd, MUSHROOMHEAD will release their first DVD, entitled "Volume 1", on July 26 via their own label, the Lumberjack-distributed The Filthy Hands Co. The title is available for pre-orders at www.mushroomhead.com for $19.98 (pre-orders will arrive one day before release date).
The band self-produced, shot, directed and edited the entire DVD, which offers fans the opportunity to experience the band in several ways. It includes music videos, "Solitaire/Unraveling" from their Universal debut "XX", as well as tracks from their follow-up, "XIII", "Sun Doesn't Rise" and "Kill Tomorrow" (a new video which the band lensed themselves), live performances and candid behind-the-scenes footage of the band, unmasked.
MUSHROOMHEAD are currently in pre-production on thier sixth studio album, to be released later this year. The record will be the first to feature new vocalist Waylon, replacing J-Mann, who left the band late last year. The group will show off their new blood this summer and fall on tour with DOPE.

Mushroomhead is the fucking shit! Not to big on Dope, but Mushroomhead does put on a kick ass show! Oh and battery517, Slipknot sucks and Mushroomhead kicks the shit out of them!

mushroomhead owns!!!!!!!!! not as big into them as i was but they were the first to come out with the masks and shit so they gotta get props for that.and really if u think about it they along with nothingface really helped pioneer the nu-metal thing.bands from that genre complety ripped those2 bands off and the ones that get credit for it are korn and deftones,those 2 are a part of it yes but if u look at history nothingface's 1st cd dropped in 94 also a few months before the korn self-titled not to mention the fact they had been around a long time before same with mushroomhead.no one gives those bands there due.and sadly both never really got noticed nothingface is broken up now,and mushroomhead is a shell of there former selves while korn and deftones contiue to release crap album after crap album.i wonder what it would be like if mushroomhead and nothingface wouldve got the recongition and deftones and korn didnt?????hmm i wonder??????????

Even then, I'm sure there were bands before Gwar that wore masks/costumes/etc.

mushroomhead is pretty bland nu metal, but thet definitely did not pioneer nu metal. pioneering such an awful genre is not something to be proud of. these guys were just really busy idolizing integrity, ringworm and olc and doing a piss poor job trying to live up to those standards.
and also, im pretty sure the bad luck 13 and shockwave were wearing masks before slipknot, mushroomhead or any other nu metal band

Jeffrey is the only thing holding this band together. I always thought J Mann was a mediocre vocalist and I think that his vocals always cheesed up the songs. This band would be alot beter if they got rid of a second vocalist and just kept Jeffrey as the main vocalist.

Honestly i dont know why people gotta get on here just to rip on people. It's shows a pretty big lack of creativity and social life. Both Mushroomhead and Slipknot are great bands. Who gives a shit about masks cuz everythings been done before. Whether u know it or not. Im sure someone else in some piss ant town in Kansas already did it. But who honestly gives that much of a shit. In the end its about the music, if u like it or not. Not who was first or who sells more or any of that non sense. If dont like, dont buy it. If u like it, good for u. I still dont give a shit either way. REMEMBER HOOTIE AND THE BLOWFISH AND DAVE MATTHEWS SELL BILLIONS OF ALBUMS. DOES THAT MAKE THEM COOLER, BETTER OR MORE TALENTED THAN ALL METAL????

To the dude that said Slipknot are better because they sell more albums lol that is the funniest thing I have ever heard, I think Ashlee Simpson is better than Slipknot, I mean she sells more albums then everyone else for a reason right? Mushroomhead work harder than most bands out there.
Mushroomhead aren't Nu-Metal they're Industrial only someone who has truly listened to their music over and over again would know that, they use too much keyboards and samples to be categorized as Nu-Metal. They also mix different types of music like Classical, Funk, Punk, and Gothic influences.
You guys should give Waylon a chance he sounds almost exactly like JMann and he can also sing, I was listening to this one clip of Waylon doing 2nd Thoughts and I could have sworn it was JMann but it wasn't.

Like everyone else here I used to like mushroomhead a lot... it kind of just wore off on me... I no longer listen to them too much.
Mushroomhead members believe Slipknots masks(or at least the specific designs) were given to them by their record label because they wre on the same label as Mushroomhead, and SOME were the *EXACT* same masks/costumes as mushroomhead. I read that they believe their label was responsible for that.
Mushroomhead also claims to have had to change the designs of their masks and costumes as a direct result.
well thats just what I read...

This is to Andeathion656. I basically agree with you but I dont believe Mushroomhead is a shell of their former selves. I half expect the haters to come out and say their junk, but not a fan. Im new into the Mushroomhead music, and I really like it. Listening to the music, and seeing what they are doing, it seems they are rebuilding and putting out some cool stuff. Course we'll have to wait until the new CD to find out for sure. I personally think they kick ass. I also like Slipknot, and agree they are entirely two different bands.

Have you ever heard a song by Mushroomhead? Jeffrey Nothing "sings" and JMann/Waylon "screams". If you get rid of the screaming, that's not Mushroomhead anymore! Nothing might carry the band with his vocals, but you can't scrap the other members because of that.

hmm this is interseting mushroomhead are an amazing band and dont have all the tackie goat shite like slipknot i like both but they both dont compare to gwar who wore masks b4 both of them. To be fair slipknot have made a few decent songs but most r shite and there not exactly popular there not "worth millions". If no ones herd of mushroomhead y are so many debating over them

i think jason as well as jeff and the gang should do what makes them happy. they have all been through hell and evn if you don't like the music they have and will create they deserve support from everyone as well as props for the fact that they stuck through the tough times for like 13 years. no one i find has the steel to make it or even try. when they find out that its work they scatter. so give the guys a break, they deserve success.(paul howerton III) keep going guys, i know its rough but you guys have ben in some of the only bands in cleveland that were worth a shit even though there are a couple up and comers now!

like i said. we are talking about mushroomhead and gang because they are talented and in some of the only bands that cleveland has to offer that aren't tipical cleveland hardcore sloprock bullshit. So, that being said show the guys some love cos' they have stuck this shit scene out for years here in cleveland and they deserve success. Plus they are genuinely nice guys. everyone has something to say about them in a bad way but what you don't understand is that these cats don't have alot of time to kiss ass when they are on tour constantly. They do what they can to show the love, so show some respect at least for the fact that they are still working when most bands would have broken up four times already.(paul howerton III)
