it does suck for Megadeth, but this is like their 3rd Greatest Hits CDs to come out in the last couple of years. I guess to make the contract requirements. Put out a new album instead. I haven't picked up Fury yet, but will this week.

Devildriver was pretty sharp, a friend of mine never listened to em because people said they sucked but went and bought the cd's after their set, Throwdown(Whom I like) was killer!
Very impressive cover of Sepultura's "Roots Bloody Roots" dedicated to Dimebag.

those are not bad numbers for Megadave, considering is rehashed material. and Demons and wizards numbers are not bad at all considering its american sales. home of RAP AND ROLL

It was a tough choice but I could only get the one. I have no interest in another Mega-Greatest-Hits disk.

Darkest Hour is quite catchy...

Heh, go figure. Guess their PR department forgot something, like promo'.

I picked up the new Darkest Hour, and it's pretty damn good, a hell of alot better than the new As I Lay Dying, that's for sure.

Devildriver\s cd does indeed rock pretty hard. Alot of people won't give it a chance because of Dez and his past but once you get past that the album is great. I listen to it all the time and still am not sick of it yet.

i feel the need to remind you that at one time judas priest, iron maiden etc. were considered "new" bands. while i'm not saying the bands in this thread are in the same boat as the ones i mentioned, it doesn't mean they aren't good. get off your soapbox and slowly pull your head out of your ass

if you listen to the new devildriver you would know that they took some time and crafted some great songs with melody in them. nobody is compairing them to the bands you listed, but, if you give the new disc half a chance you would see there is more to dd then trying to be heavy and going lower, faster and sounding the same. listen to the disc, you might be surprised with what you hear.

I must be finally starting to lose touch in the metal community, as I have no idea who Dez from Devildriver is? Anyway, spent my hard earned money on the new Clutch yesterday. They continue to impress & progress in my opinion. They certainly didn't cut corners on the package, as it is has killer artwork & packaging. Actually felt good to buy the real thing. I am losing interest in the whole download & burn thing. I mean, it's too easy, anyone can do it, you get albums months before they come out, you lose any anticipation or excitement related to a release date, no artwork, no notes, no way to even feel like you know a band anymore, let alone a new band. I mean, it's nice to test drive new shit & if I really like it, I buy it. If not, i delete it. But these folks with 15,000 files; like you can even listen to all of that? Not to mention these folks with the "share the good shit or fuck off & die & be banned" instructions. What is up with that. Anyway,....

yo tiizzy man i feel you. i don't download full albums either. it takes all the fun out of it. often when an album is finally released i always get the feeling it has been out for 6 months. Because that is when i hear it is available for download. it gets real annoying. I miss the days when album releases were events. you would hanging for it to drop and maybe go as far to pre-order. personally i used to just rock up day of release. But it seems the feeling has gone.

have their own sort of fan base, based on a subculture of alot of young skaters and such. They've actually been around for quite a while and their albums have sold pretty consistently in the past. I'm sure the Bam connection has helped to push the sales of this new album up there so quickly as well....

The thing with these record sales numbers is a.) soundscan is limited in what it accounts for, particularly with underground metal which is often sold through non-Soundscan outlets, and b.) it's better to have smaller yet consistent sales numbers that last week after week, rather than have a large first week number, then quickly drop off afterwards once all the die-hards have already purchased it. Go back and look at alot of the records that chat high in their first week, and then look at the numbers from the following weeks and you'll see that it often drops off quickly. Bands like Shadows Fall and Lucuna Coil however (like them or not) have garnered steady and consistent weekly sales, which means it might take 'em two years to get up in the high numbers, but they get there regardless. I think albums like the Megadeth greatest hits will probably be a pretty steady seller over the weeks even if the first week wasn't too huge.....people will likely go out and purchase it while this Gigantour is in effect this summer too, which I'm guessing is probably the main reason this cd exists in the first place, just to capitalize on the tour....

I can think of a zillion bands that were and still are heavier and more aggressive than Corn Chamber.

i know what he means. they were one of the first to make nu-metal sound like METAL imo. korn often sounded like a heavy alt.rock/metal band. Coal Chamber sounded more like the real deal.

By the way...Mike Spreitzer wrote very minimal amounts of the riffs on that record...

Ankle-grabbers and pillow-biters rejoice! There's new Throwdown and Devil Driver albums out. So now you and your " 'core" buddies can go out and practice all your pit judo manuevers to your heart's delight and who knows...maybe your buddy will give you a little more than a "pat on the back" for your efforts.
But seriously, I'm shocked that DD sold over 10,000 copies. I figured after they toured with Opeth, they'd fall off the map considering they were getting boo'ed at both the NY and MA dates (note to self: hahahahahaha). I mean, I don't understand what's so great about a band that uses recycled Coal Chamber riffs (not that CoCh was really that great anyway) and rips off...errr..."fuses" them with the Scandinavian sound that's been prevalent for the last 8 years. Death to NWOAHM for mixing nu-hardcore (see: gay) with European stylings.
