JUDAS PRIEST Booking Second Leg Of North American Tour: First Date Leaked
- July 11, 2005
|
|
|
JUDAS PRIEST are in the process of booking dates for the second leg of their North American tour, tentatively set to take place this fall. So far, only one date has been leaked: October 11 at the 3,000 capacity Mid-Hudson Civic Center in Poughkeepsie, NY.
As previously reported, PRIEST guitarist Glenn Tipton told ABC ePrep that the band's upcoming live DVD, featuring footage from their recent shows at Japan's Budokan, will be released in the fall.
JUDAS PRIEST kicked off the first leg of their North American with QUEENSRŸCHE on May 30 at the Blossom Music Center in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.
JUDAS PRIEST are continuing to tour in support of "Angel of Retribution", their first album with singer Rob Halford in 15 years. "Angel of Retribution" was produced by Roy Z, who has previously worked on solo albums from Halford and IRON MAIDEN's Bruce Dickinson.
JUDAS PRIEST's "Angel of Retribution" has sold a little under 150,000 copies in the United States to date, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

I was somewhat dissapointed that when I saw them in Atlanta that there was nobody on the lawn....I thought that this would have been a better selling tour.However....that means they can play the smaller markets like Dayton & Knoxville where you can still see them play to a general admission venue!

was absolutely unbelievably incredible. They played for 2 hours. It was one of the best concerts I have ever seen (& I have seen a few since the late 70's). Here are some pictures of the Dallas show along with some pictures from the SFV tour in 82 (plus some other shows me & my kids have sent). Enjoy the pics, make prints, whatever. Just don't sell them since they are mine!!

im glad priest decided to go to smaller venues. seeing them in chicago's brawlroom would be amazing. as long as its not outdoors, not the allstate arena. they need to go to places that have a capacity b/w 1500-4000. may i also suggest our house of blues. halford solo put on a brillant set there a few years ago.

Priest fuckin rules. I have not had the chance to see them with Halford yet but when I have seen them at clubs with Ripper, shit was amazing! What a good atmosphere, being exteremly drunk and only 2 inches away from KK and Glenn was fuckin awesome. Also 2 inches from the bar helped too. Smaller venues have some advantages.

Incredible show last night and a good size crowd that gave Judas Priest their due props as the METAL GODS!!
BTW, Rob's voice sounded amazing and KK is shredding like it's 1980 again( Glenn too). Do NOT miss the next Priest show!

I'm a LONG time Priest fan and have seen many shows through the years. After seeing them in Tampa a couple weeks ago I will never drop another dime on seeing them live. I'll give it up to Halford as an originator and metal legend but the man is a shell of his former self.
For two hours he crept around at a snail's pace from teleprompter to teleprompter, leaning over on a mic stand like a cane (or the railing if he managed to get up the steps to the risers) and tried to sing his own material. To say that his performance was weak would be generous. He mainly speaks the words now (a la Vince Neil) and is so nasally and thin-sounding that it is hard to listen to as someone who has enjoyed Priest for so many years.
Call me what you may but having watched Ripper just tear the shit out of those songs live for several years might have spoiled me. But then again, even going back to the videotaped shows of the 80's it is clear that Halford used to fuckin' own his material. Now he struggles to get through most of the songs. Normally I would love to hear Priest play Exciter live but it was an abortion vocally.
So flame if you will but, in my opinion, the man isn't capable of doing those great songs justice anymore. The band is solid but when you put Halford next to present-day Bruce, Klaus or even Biff Byford for Pete's sake, it's clear that the emperor has no clothes. (Actually, the dude changes clothes more times than Cher during the show but it doesn't help his performance.)
I'll always love Priest, (most of) their music and the times I've seen them in the past. But I'll never pay to see them play live again.

but while still with the halford project as he was brining in older tunes, priest tunes,he was still tearing the shit out of these songs, maybe about 5 years ago or so,i was like man,he's still got it,but now i did notice he's not on the same level, but come on,i gotta give rob his due,not many can keep a voice as kick ass as they are FOREVER,not even rob, lets just be glad we are getting to see the metal gods reunion, cause who knows how long this is gonna last, ive waited as many have to see roth and vh get back, and thats never gonna happen, see what i mean??

Just hope Priest comes in Quebec city, or Montreal at least, it's been a pretty long time.... :(
I have seen Halford opening for Maiden in 2000 but without the other JP members, it's truly not the same thing...
