MARILYN MANSON Making Movies

MARILYN MANSON recently told RollingStone.com that he will be releasing a set of four short films, entitled "Fantasma Gloria", through his web site. "It's the visions of Lewis Caroll — in fact I'm playing Carroll," he said. In Installment One, Manson explores the origin of "Alice in Wonderland"'s Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum. "I might add that the girls playing Tweedle Dee and Dum are twins who get to have real, genuine sex with each other. I like to make dreams come true." Manson has come to a crossroads in his career. "I no longer want to make art that other people — particularly record companies — are turning into a product," he said. "I just want to make art." And he's invented a new genre for his new breed of art: "horripilation." "It's horrifying, and it's depilatory," he explained. "It will horrify the hair off of your legs." Manson's also got 18 songs in the can. "It's not like I'm going to stop making music and start knitting," he says. "I just don't think the world is worth putting the music into right now. First we're gonna fix the world with horripilation."

I"m a hard core manson fan and truthfully I couldn't be more fucking glad about the idea of him coming out with the movie! I was pissed off when I found out that Deep took the leading role of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory instead of Manson and now i"M not going to go see it, but I do have to agree I do wish that he would come out with a kick ass album lest we forget is just greatest hits I want something that will make all the old manson fans worship once again for who is really is! MM is a has been. Nobody cares about him anymore except his loyal fanbase which has been halfed over the years. I always thought he was lame. Everybody was so shocked at his antics when he first came out. I always just laughed at him. I will admit however the beautiful people is a pretty cool song. He has long been replaced. RIP MM

in my opinion, I think MM have produced some great and successful electronic rock music over the past 5 or so years.
I'd say what he's done is far more relevent than some death-metal band flogging a dead horse doing the same "blast beat" music for the past 20 years. At least he's tried new things (at least, new for mainstream rock) and he's challenged people.
You can't argue with record sales.

Doesn't make sense to me. He's a musical artist, yeah he can crossover and do other shit, but it pains me to see him turn his back on what got him where he is. Anything that people buy is a product, it's only art to the ones who appreciate it and the one's that crafted it. He needs to stick to music or just retire.

I was a huge fan backin 97/98. I haven't listened to shit he's put out since Mech Animals. He just needs to stop.
He's not relevant, he's not shocking anyone, he's not TALENTED. Every time I hear him talk, I get dumber. I think if I hear him talk one more time I'll turn into a BLS fan I'll get so dumb. It's unreal how he's still allowed to make music and tour, and produce ANYTHING for people to see/hear.

Who the fuck doesn't do that? Dream Theater even uses a riff from Rush, and Metallica wouldn't be anywhere without Dave Mustaine. Every single thing you see is going to have other influences you fucking moron. "Oh my god you don't like Manson... so that means you're just copying the guy in front of you!! how unoriginal!!!"

Manson will never do any better than "Portrait" or "AntiChrist Superstar" but I still don't think he's terrible. However, as far as him being megatalented, I don't agree. Yeah, he can crank out lyrics to no end, but so can the retarded kid next door. If it wasn't for Tim Skold Manson would have ended badly when Twiggy bounced. Tim Skold does almost all the work while Manson just says "OK here's some lyrics and I've had this melody in my head..." Skold does the rest. Even Manson will admit that. He's not a musician, but I still enjoy the music.

You can argue with record sales. Just because you seell records doesn't mean you're good or we'd be worshipping britney spears and eminim. In mainstream music says it all. Sad how he has to become a gothic moron to sell , it is all in the gimmick without it he is nothing. His message is pointless and he is such a fraud and an idiot. Plus even if I look past it all and just look at the music my opninion is only worse I can't stand his bad music. Rob Zombie is ok. He has a bunch of bad songs but he has some really awesome ones too so Rob is cool and Cooper owns all.

As I said it was my opinion that he was good, I stand by that - it is my OPINION - that's the thing with opinions ; ever fucker's got one.
Eminem & Shitney Spears ARE great at what they do - which is shitty pop-trash.
Marilyn Manson records commercial rock-music with the twist of cynically having an image which he knows pisses of politicans, parents and preachers.
No one is claiming MM has underground credibility - but he's good at what he does ; shock rock. The Alice Cooper of our current age if you like.
Anyone over 15 who takes his image seriously needs to see a psychiatrist. He is an entertainer and he entertains.
Musically his "brand" is amazingly clever, with great production production and gets kids at rock-clubs on the dancefloor.
Thats what he and his producers aim to do, and that's what they achieve. THEREFORE he IS succesfull and wether we like him or not.
I don't see why people get a slagging for being popular ?

I think that Trent Reznor has had more to do with his success than anyone. Years ago, based on the fact that he was produced by Trent I saw a show with about 35 other people. Great show!
I will not argue about his relivance currently. He has had his time.
Uh, Hello?--I don't think you can even compare the musicianship of Zeppelin and Manson. Zeppelin never had any lack of musicianship. They are an influence to this day. I do agree, AC/DC is not technically amazing but Angus Young is a great blues/rock player. Havn't really heard any new stuff I liked in a very long time though.

I remain a fan of manson. I'm older than 15 and buy the persona and character or wtf ever the one dude said....he IS quite smart. He IS also quite fucked up in the head (but than who isn't to some degree). I dunno wtf the whole art shit is about but you know in the end he WILL release the album because $$$$$ talks. He's not a has been anymore than ozzy or any of them hippie bands that still exist who tons of people worship and adore; granted it's possible their fanbases weren't made up of a bunch of stupid ass poseurs who know two songs like mr. warners 'band'. and there's my two cents that i pretty much could give a shit less if you disagree or agree with....but im posting it anyways cuz I admitidly lack a life and live in the basement and any other stupid little assumption that shall be made about me.
