DEICIDE: More Details Emerge About Chilean Concert Arrests

According to El Sol de Mexico, police in Santiago, Chile arrested 15 people who tried to enter by force the venue where American death metal band DEICIDE were performing their first-ever concert in the country.
The arrests were reportedly made on Friday (July 15) after the organizers of the event closed the doors of the packed Gymnasium Nataniel, causing nearly two hundred fans to be turned away when they tried to enter the concert.
Many of the fans standing outside, according to an official report, were found to be either drunk or on drugs, and they began to throw empty bottles at the walls of the Gymnasium Nataniel as well as at the vehicles that were parked around the venue.
Around 80 Special Forces police officers responded to the disturbance and used various means, including tear gas, to disperse the unruly crowd. In the meantime, 3,500 people reportedly enjoyed the presentation of DEICIDE, whose members were said to be unaware of the chaos that was taking place outside the building.
DEICIDE's concert in Chile went ahead despite objections from local church officials, who had asked the authorities to prevent the group from playing in country out of respect for an Italian Catholic priest who was murdered by a DEICIDE fan almost a year ago.

the Church should just shut up on the subject & refrain from commentary. Do they need to have a say in everything? I guess if it was a Maiden fan they'd want to ban them also... it has nothing to do with one another at all.

Deicide are funny, a good entertaining turn, and I like them for spreading so much happiness, but who cares if some chockos out in the wup-wup decide to run riot? Granted it gives Deicide press coverage, but its the same old story- metal blamed for anything antiestablisment. .... Tippa Gore anyone?

It's quite interesting how the people here react to these types of situations. If this was a rap concert you'd be making conscious racist comments and blaming rap music and the fans in a preposterous pseudo-sophist manner. But when the media brings to light that white metalheads are doing things like killing Dimebag onstage or stabbing fans to death at a C.O.C. show then people are just "picking on metal" and "need to mind their own business." Give me a break.

Ha ha. That is gold. Since about 85% of the readers here are literally illiterate, and probably do not own dictionaries, it's called being a hypocrite. Truthfully, is your self-esteem is so low that you need to lash out at everything that doesn't fit into the realm of what you consider normal? Like I said, when this kind of stuff happens at a rap show, most people(not all) here are quick to blame the culture, but when Darrell was murdered people defended metal to no end and bashed the media for reporting the situation if it made metal look negative in any way, shape, or form. The truth is, no rapper has ever been murdered during a performance. Obviously it was tragic and Nathan Gale had problems, but that is exactly the point...you grew to know of Gale and his problems because you followed the story, whereas if violence happens elsewhere outside of the metal community, you do not take the time to research the symptoms. Instead, you just judge.
Idiots are everywhere. Have you ever been to metal show? I'm sure you have. Do you know how many people leave the lots and get into their cars drunk? Do you know how many people smuggle in illicit drugs? Do you know how many people smuggle in weapons? Lots. Hell, if I really wanted to be facetious, I could point out how many metal fans are just plain aesthetically unappealing.
The point is that people are quick to defend wrong-doing if they think they are being personally attacked, while never taking the time to consider that they are doing the same to others.

If you are into God Or Satan quit argueing who is better so much. I know from my own experiance we can all enjoy the same music. Yes the Catholic Church makes things a bit difficult for people who live in a country with out the freedom of religion, and to keep thier collective noses out of other peoples buissness. But if I as a beleiver in God can go to a Dimmu Borgir show, and enjoy it, and get along with my dark side fellow metal bretherin I think maybe the church officials can maybe go to a show or two.
