Former EVANESCENCE Guitarist Working On Solo Album - July 18, 2005
Former EVANESCENCE guitarist and songwriter Ben Moody's first solo single, "Everything Burns", has just started to chart in Europe. The single, which features lead vocals from dance-pop singer Anastacia and appears on the new "Fantastic Four" soundtrack, has landed at position No. 14 in Switzerland and No. 22 in Austria.

Moody is currently puting the finishing touches on his first solo album, "Can't Regret What You Can't Remember", tentatively due in the fall, according to MTV.com. The CD, almost two years in the making, includes guest appearances by METHODS OF MAYHEM/TOMMY LEE bassist Marty O'Brien, LIVING SACRIFICE drummer Lance Garvin, studio guitarist Michael "Fish" Herring and GODHEAD vocalist/guitarist Jason Miller, who also sings lead on a couple tracks.

"It's brutally honest," Moody said of the album, which he describes as heavy, organic and at times stripped-down. "'Can't Regret' has been very much of a saving grace for me. It [helped me get] through rehab, even. But also, when I had moments of clarity about [drug and personal problems] and could actually, in a constructive and eloquent way, articulate what I was feeling at the time, as opposed to just ranting with rage and hatred."

One of the key songs on the album is "10/22", which commemorates the day he walked away from EVANESCENCE. Originally penned as a diss at Amy Lee, Moody recently had an epiphany about the track.

"About three weeks ago, I realized it wasn't about Amy at all," he said. "It was about me — and I was projecting feelings I had about myself on the day I left the band onto her. It's going to sound like I'm bitching about other people, but I'm not — it's 100 percent focused on myself."

Everything Burns sucks. If the rest of the album follows on the lines of this single....bye bye solo career

Hmm solo albums are tricky at the best of times for talented WELL KNOWN musicians. Who actually gives a flying fuck about Ben Moody??!!

It would have to be a phenomenal effort to do well. Fair enough if it is then I'll eat my words...but I can't say I expect that to happen on this occasion.

I'm a big Evanescence fan and even I don't give a flying fuck about Ben Moody's solo album.

Sure, he was a part of the success Evanescence has had up to this point but quite frankly it's too little, too late for him IMO. Evanescence moved on - and on the surface, at least, fairly smoothly - without him.

I remember seeing him play with them back when they were just starting to get huge and he just seemed so depressed, like he didn't want to be there. When I saw them with their new guitarist, the show had a better vibe.

I was just making a list of the top 10 cds I have to buy this year, and the number one cd that came to my mind was "Ben Moody's Solo Album." But I didn't even know he was making one!!! I nearly broke into tears when I read this blab's headline!!! Talk about dreams coming true!!! Oh wait, maybe I should've said, praise Jesus for answering my nightly prayers!!! Who'd have known it was possible!!!

Look at the awesome song titles and just try to tell me you ain't impressed. "Can't Regret remembering what I'm supposed to be writing about or something like that, you know!" is gonna be a killer track if you ask me. Not to mention that has to be the most killer title for an album, ever, period!!! But like most of you, its the track 10/22 that I'm eagerly anticipating. That one riff repeated ad nauseam to Amy's rejection of his brilliant talent. That's gonna rock hard, you bet your Jesus it is!!!
