Selling 11,000 plus tickets in huge 22,000 seat venues isn't bad at all in the year 2005 for a tradiational metal band. That was about the size of the crowds for their shows in the 80s. Anyway, the demand was way too high for small and mid-sized auditoriums that's for sure. What can you do if the next size venue is over 20,000. The only people who sell out those are major national and international acts like Elton John.

Last time out with Ripper Owens they were playing clubs that hold less than 1,000 people. What's sad is that sales of the album in the US are only 150,000 for such a great record. When I saw them in St. Paul you could tell 90% of the people there had never heard the new material. This one idiot a couple rows behind me kept shouting "Devil's Child" throughout the show.

these guys are better liked in Europe. Hell, the Whitesnake show here in Finland had an attendance of about 8.000 per show (2 shows in a week). And the Priest one sold out (12.000seats).

But one thing's certain, the Nugent attendance would be even lower here..muahaha, poor Ted...

...PRIEST is STILL drawing 10,000 people to shows...that's great, especially in this day and age.

They should have booked mid-size venues though...it would have looked better. I mean...Def Lep are playing to similar size crowds or smaller...but because the venues are tiny its interpreted as doing well.

12,000 in Selma, Texas....GO PRIEST!!!!

Look at the list. Not even 5,000 fans in a 20,000 capacity arena! (Whiteriver Ampetheater). In ABQ, only a half full stadium. This is NOT doing good.

You said it yourself: They need to play in smaller arenas because they aren't drawing in the numbers to fill the place.

If they played in smaller venues then it could look like they're doing good when they are actually not.

You said this, not me.

Just admit it. JP's comeback is dead!

A veteran metal band drawing crowds around 5,000 to 12,000 is doing very good...especially in this day and age. Few metal bands are doing these numbers. (Plus...it was an amazing show)

The attendence numbers are impressive for a 30 year old metal band...the venues should have been 5,000 to 10,000 seaters though.

One hundred people at a metalcore show in a bar that holds 95 represents a greater success than nearly 12,000 people in an arena that holds 20,000. Don't waste your time playing in a band SOB, you'd be more successful in band management. "We packed 'em in tonight boys! Get out your wallet, I've got one Andy Jackson for everybody! Tomorrow we conquer Hal's Bar & Grill in Ludlow, South Dakota!"

Theyre established, all this is just a cakewalk for em'...and for god's sakes look who's opening for em'...EXACTLY. and i bet you havent seen the price of the tix for a judas priest show. a show consists of only 2 bands for a price that can get you in a festival.

Yeah, just leave me alone and go pop in your Kiss 8-tracks.

Long live Death, Morbid Angel, Pantera, DevilDriver, Slayer (one of the few bands from the 80s that is still worth a damn).

Don't get me wrong, I still like classic bands like Black Sabbath and admire the guitar skills of Edward Van Halen but there is a time to move on and open your mind to new music which I try to do. Nowadays, I just get turned off when I see old eighties metal and see the make-up, hairspray and spandex. It's hard to take that all seriously.

I just want to see a band play and not have any distractions that take away from the music.

Those JP figures aren't that bad. Not many heavymetal bands (including Death, Morbid Angel, Pantera, DevilDriver, Slayer) draw 10000+ figures these days.
