COQ ROQ: BURGER KING Launches SLIPKNOT-Lookalike 'Chicken' Metal Band

According to ClickZ.com, the Burger King fast-food chain is launching and promoting its own teen-targeted metal group through both TV spots and a web site. The band is COQ ROQ. The gimmick: chicken masks and poultry-themed songs with names like "Bob Your Head" and "Cross the Road". Lyrics are sprinkled with references to BK's new chicken fries, which "rebel against convention," according to a company statement. The group's web site offers up a multimedia surround view of the branded band. Have-it-your-ways songs come in streaming, MP3 and mobile ringtone formats. Music video-style ads for the band will air on network and cable TV, including SpikeTV, MTV and VH1. A URL for the site appears at the end of the spots. The web site has profiles on the band members, who have names like Fowl Mouth and Free Range. It remains to be seen whether teens can learn to love a metal band that exists solely to promote fast food. If an early look at the site's message board's is an indication, prospects are slim for a large COQ ROQ fan base. Initial posts late Tuesday morning mostly consist of metal fans bashing Burger King for ripping off another band, SLIPKNOT, the mask-wearing metal group to whom COQ ROQ's members do bear a striking resemblance. An hour later, those comments had been removed by a moderator.

Burger King is now officially Metal in my book. I have worshipped their chicken tenders for years and now I know why. Hell, COQ ROQ have more talent than Slipnuts and can actually write a catchy song!

I saw the commercial last night and thought it was a joke! The music is horrible but the commercial itself is funny. Especially the scene with the band member (guitarist?) painting his chicken mask with, what appears to be, fake blood. Too funny. I didn't think it was a real band.

#2. I think I'd be more into this idea if jack In The box didn't already do something similar a few years ago. they had a fake boy band called the Meaty Cheesy boys to promote their ultimate cheeseburger. they had fake songs and a web site with band profiles and stuff like that. I thought it was pretty funny. this just seems like a ripoff of that to me, but most of the country won't know that because jack In the box is only out west AFAIK.

Comparing this industrialized slag of shit of a band to Slipknot is a lame attempt at proving a point. I must state that Slipknot has never been a favorite band of mine, however...they CAN play and are quite good at their respective instruments (sans the DJ) and for that i give'em credit.
This Coq Roq crap is just another retarded attempt to introduce a new trend and insert some more bullshit into your already crippled "american culture". And from the looks of it, a lot of you meat heads are gonna buy into it.

Prediction: The ad campaign will have decent success, which will lead Coq Roq and BK executives to think there is a market for the music. Then they will make an actual video, and sell copies of the single. After a brief success, the single sales will dry up after the novelty is over, and the ad campaign will then have killed itself, and disappear forever.
Those chicken fries are pretty damn good though. They sell themselves! Although they arent very filling.

anyways. I was workin in Vancouver, canada one night and I heard a bunch of noise outside. I look out the window of our office and I see what looks like, a music video being filmed across the street in a hotel. I go across the street on my break to see whats goin on, and lo and behold, they're filmin a internet commercial for murder king. I asked them who the band was they were using and the guy said, AND I QUOTE, " THEY'RE NOT REAL, THEY'RE A FAKE BAND."
