DIMMU BORGIR Extend NUCLEAR BLAST Deal, Set Release Date For 'Stormblåst' Re-Recording - Aug. 9, 2005
Norwegian symphonic black metal masters DIMMU BORGIR have extended their record deal with longtime label Nuclear Blast Records. The group's next release will be a revamped version of their "Stormblåst" CD, which originally appeared in 1996. The CD was re-recorded earlier in the year, augmented with bonus tracks and produced by Peter Tägtgren (HYPOCRISY). A November 7 release is expected.

DIMMU BORGIR are scheduled to begin writing material for their next studio album this fall for a tentative late 2006 release. The CD, which will feature a guest appearance by MAYHEM's Hellhammer on drums, will be "a full story/concept album," according to a posting on the group's web site.

...but 'Progenies of the Great Apocalypse' is a fucking awesome song! Metal doesn't get much more "epic" than that song.

Dimmu is re-recording Stormblast for some typical label reason, i think they're not getting any money from it, and they can't get the rights to re-issue it. Personally, I'm psyched to hear latter-day Dimmu doing older stuff.

Fuck off you fuckin poser underground idiot's!!!Dimmu,Mayhem,Emperor,Immortal,Enslaved and DarkThrone are the true blackmetal bands that started this whole scene. Not all these underground copycat fuckin fake bands we all see in underground mags.May evil be unleashed to the mainstream!!!!{well ,sort of}but not in a metallica or system of a down sort of way."Puritanical euphoric misenthropia" is one of my top 10 all time favorite cd's of all time.DimmuBorgir kick so much ass!!!!!!!They diserve all the attention they get and will continue to get.Why don't you bashers rip on asshole's like linkinpark or staind??????????????

Replace?Last time I looked these post are about DimmuBorgir???Opps I forgot SatyricoN! I never cared for the other 2 you mentioned though. As far as starting "blackmetal"???My vote would be Venom and {old}CelticFrost-Hellhammer for sure. Dimm,Satyr,May etc!etc! all "started" where the older bands left off.Sorta like a "Procreation of the wicked" hehehe!!! "Now playing- "Nexus Polaris" by Covanant~\m/~

Dischordant minor chords, doublebass, satan, blastbeats, raspy vocals, inverted barr chords, upsidedown crosses, fire, pentagrams, evil sadistic lyrics, black attire, face paint, capes, blood, sometimes dark keys etc!etc!Hate to have to burst any bubbles here but arggggghhhh DimmuBorgir fit just about every one I'v mentioned. Venom and Bathory used some keys/acoustic parts and CelticFrost used orchestrations/horns/strings/samples and female vocals so I guess they never had anything to do with blackmetal either huh?FUCKIN MORONS!!!!!!!!

Anybody else out there totally dig the Twisted Sister cover that DM does of "Burn in Hell" (disc 2 on Death Cult Armaggedon). I've personally put it on my workout mix and I think its one of the most kick ass cover songs ever recorded....ever.....by anybody. The bass/vocal breakdown towards the end is fucking killer too man. Perfect mix of clean/harsh vocals trading off each other.

Are any of you in a band? Or better yet, a band that has actually set foot in a studio? Obviously not, because every band has a demo, EP, or full album that they're not happy with. Be it overall production, instrument sound, vocals, whatever. Should Dimmu Borgir be any different? So what if they want to re-record an earlier album, wouldn't you like to hear what this thing will sound like with modern day Dimmu? And even if the reason isn't being unhappy with the sound, what if they're trying to get out of a pressing record deal? Do you know how much stress and pressure record labels put on bands? Half the cd's you've bought in your life were half-assed label gliders, recorded simply for the purpose of 'gliding' through a record contract in search of a better one. If that is the reason, aren't you glad that they didn't record some pathetic piece of shit they whipped up at the last minute? I'd rather hear a re-recorded album myself, there's no telling what they could make it sound like.
