Fans Launch Petition To Get MOTÖRHEAD Inducted Into ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME

MOTÖRHEAD fans are signing a petition in an attempt to get the band inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The petition text reads as follows: "Please induct MOTÖRHEAD into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. MOTÖRHEAD are currently celebrating their 30th Anniversary and it is, quite simply, shocking that they have not received the recognition they deserve. "Without MOTÖRHEAD, the hard rock and metal music scenes would look very different today. They have influenced numerous bands over the years, including METALLICA, SLAYER, SEPULTURA, ZEKE, SLIPKNOT, ANTHRAX, TANK, OVERKILL, and PETER PAN SPEEDROCK. "Despite problems with various record companies trying to limit their creative output and certain sections of the media attacking the band at every opportunity, MOTÖRHEAD have relentlessly put out strong album after strong album and toured almost constantly all over the world. They have never given up or compromised their principles, no matter what adversity has faced them, making them one of the most exciting, productive, viable live bands around today. "As there have been several line-up changes over the years, it would be unfair to induct one particular line-up over another; every musician that has been in Motorhead has contributed something great to the band. Therefore, MOTÖRHEAD are Ian 'Lemmy' Kilmister, Philip Campbell, Michael 'Mikkey Dee' Delaouglou, Mick 'Wurzel' Burston, Philip 'Philthy Animal' Taylor, 'Fast' Eddie Clarke, Peter Gill, Brian 'Robbo' Robertson, Larry Wallis, and Lucas Fox. Special merit should be given to the 'classic' MOTÖRHEAD of Kilmister/ Taylor/ Clarke and the longest-serving MOTÖRHEAD of Kilmister/ Campbell/ Dee. I'm not a big Motorhead fan by any means, but their influence on MANY other bands is reason enough for them to be inducted. It won't happen though. There are bands even more influential than Motorhead who aren't in there and definitely deserve to be. The R & R Hall Of Fame is a fucking joke as far as I'm concerned.

King Dinosaur: The Platters are in the HOF but other than having a brief run at fame during the 50's and so many reunion tours over the years with different members that would embarrass Kiss what kind of legacy or influence have they had compared to Motorhead? That's just my take on it.

Yes motorhead are fucking gods, but its not that big of a deal to be in the hall of fame. Motorhead is not "friendly" enough to even be considered for this because of the ignorant assholes who decide who will be inducted.

Very well put!
Motorhead does indeed belong in the R-n-R Hall of Fame, but it won't happen simply because the people in control of who gets in have never even paid for a ticket to a show, have never stood out in the snow or torrential rain waiting to get into a show, or have never even been 'in the trenches' at shows (down in the pit, packed so tight you can barely breathe). Hell, those assholes don't have to even pay the exorbitant fees for band Merchandise, or work o/t to afford a ticket for the shows.
Motorhead just keeps on keepin' on as they should, the 'suits' don't care about real stuff like long lasting influence.

I've tried many times and I've just never been a huge fan. They have a few songs I really dig, but for some reason (Which I honestly cannot really explain) they have never been one of my favorites. I have however seen Motorhead live a few times, and they are one of the loudest live bands I've ever heard in the hundreds of shows I've attended in my 15 years of going to shows (I'm 30)!!! A band that definitely deserves all of the praise they get, just not a personal favorite.

But I think RUSH needs to be in there even more. Like Motorhead basically being the Godfathers of Speed/Thrash Metal, RUSH has been the inspiration for so many Progressive Metal bands that they deserve the Godfathers title for their influence on Prog Metal. That's not even counting the talent level of the band, which dwarfs the majority of the current inductees. (By a wide margin.) Let's face it, the RnR HoF has very little respect for the harder forms of Rock music...

Realistically, Metal fans shouldn't give a rat's ass whether or not Motorhead, Black Sabbath, RUSH or even when their time comes, Metallica, ever get into the HoF. (Although I think Metallica ought to be held out for a decade or two just because they released St. Anger.)
With me, and I take this waaaay too seriously, it comes back to respect - the bands mentioned above do deserve the honor, but do I really want a bunch of pansies that think Rolling Stone is the Bible of all that is holy in music voting for bands that they probably couldn't pick out of a line-up? I know RUSH is awesome and if the HoF doesn't want 'em, screw 'em! (Even though I'd still like to see them acknowledged for their contributions to Rock music.)

What these numb nuts don't realize is that Lemmy himself has been denounceing the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame for years now. Any Motorhead fan should know this. Lemmy has said that he regreted ever lending his equipment to the Rock Hall Metal exibit years ago because Rock N Roll is savage and primal and should be frightening to people. it shouldn't be a place where some old fart takes his grand kids. See my brothers, i've actually been there and the place is about as corporate as it gets. We should be happy as Motorhead fans that our fearless leader doesn't want to be involved because once again that desicion sets Motorhead apart from the pack and makes them the original trend setting Rock n Roll machine that they've been for 30 years. Screw the petition! Let's just keep Motorhead on the road playing the best rock n roll there is.

I think Motorhead,Megadeth,Metallica and Motorhead are all great ideas for induction into the Hall of Fame. Sure,I don't like any recent megadeth but do respect the effort they've put in. As long as it's not the current Megadeth lineup going in I would be all for them being nominated but as for Motorhead ALL the lineups they've had thru the years would be appropriate for the hall. Metallica is kinda tricky but as much as I love the Cliff Era 'Tallica if they didn't elect Metallica w/Jason It'd be a crime but also PLEASE elect Metallica with Cliff but at all costs PUT metallica in there too!
