METALLICA Guitarist To Perform With FLUX QUARTET - Aug. 29, 2005
According to MorrisonSeries.org, METALLICA guitarist Kirk Hammett will be performing with FLUX QUARTET on Thursday, September 15 at the Herbst Theatre in San Francisco, California. Kirk and FLUX QUARTET will perform a world-premiere collaboration: "SAS" (for string quartet and improvised electric guitar), a work written by the QUARTET's experimental violinist Thomas Chiu.

The Morrison Artists Series celebrates 50 years of presenting, free of charge, the world's best chamber music to Bay Area audiences. Also on the program is the ST. LAWRENCE STRING QUARTET, an ensemble the New Yorker hails as "remarkable not simply for the quality of their music making…but for the joy they take in the act of connection." The ST. LAWRENCE performs "String Quartet Opus 96 in F Major" (American) by Antonin Dvorak and then is joined by the FLUX and San Francisco Symphony bassist Stephen Tramontozzi for "Last Rounds" (for double string quartet and double bass) by Osvaldo Golijov. FLUX rounds out the program with a "classical" work, "String Quartet No. 3" by Conlon Nancarrow.

Does this mean that Jaymezesez and Larzeses will threaten to kick Kirk out for having another project that isn't - gasp! - troo Metallikkka? I was under the impression that Hetfield was the only Metallician who could work on other projects!

To beowulf: James does not care if people do guess apperance for other artist..but he was concerned if metallica members have another seperate band and releasing a full LP album with singles and probably hit the road on tour..this may conflict with Metallica..

Whether James is right or wrong with regard to his stand, He did not care about guess appearance...Remember Jason had done guess appearance for numerous bands including Sepeltura, PAntera, and also helped Voivod during when he was a bassist for Metallica..

FLACs are for insecure morons who rely on computer waveform analysis rather than their EARS when making judgments on sound quality. Don't be a douche.

That many experimental music projects takes place in Sans Francisco..

I am not talking about metallica..I mean i heard of many classical or Jazz or other styles of projects comming from SF than compared to many other cities..I wonder if it has something to do with the Berkley School of Music being near SF.

Weren't Kirk and Cliff students at that school during the early years??

FUCK THEM TO HELL

METALLICA RULE!
yes st anger was shit. but the next album will be good! itll be a counter point to st anger, just like how all their other albums were opposites of the last.

if you people cant be slightly open minded to anything apart from metal, you cant really appreciate the kind of music you do listen to

is messhuah technical : yes
is there a single riff that is catchy by them :nope....

the only reason you would fucking remember a meshuggah riff is because they all sound the same.

and metallica still put on a better live show than 90% of any new metal band out there.

How the hell do you get bored playing killer metal? And even if you did, I would have more respect for guys that go out and play something truly within their talents. A samurai warrior may get bored with his sword and take up under water basket weaving but I'm pretty damn sure those baskets he makes would be kick ass and done to his own standards...not for teeny boppers who think its cool to have a basket with a metallica logo on it for christ's sake. Yeah they are allowed to get bored but don't emabarass yourself and your fans in the progress.

they'll kill themselves for being so crappy.

Kull- Zip it, you idiot. Your 2nd-rate english skills make me nauseous.

... And Justice For All was Metallica's best album by far (Kill 'Em All was uninspired, half of Ride The Lightning sounds like it came from a pop band, and Master Of Puppets is extremely overrated).

The lack of bass definitely makes up for abundance of GENIUS writing.

metalhead54- Get your facts straight. Berklee is in Boston. Berkley is in California. Berklee is the music school. Berkley is the university.

Hi, I'm Kirk Hammet, you may remember me from a band named Metallica.

I had to get guitar lessons to play Dave Mustaines solos on Kill 'em All and y'know what? I played 'em all note for note because I was too much of a novice at the time to pen any of my own.

You'll mostly find me hiding behind my wah wah pedal because I have no signature guitar tone.

I'm loved because novice guitarists can learn my technique within hours.

\m/ \m/ check out my work on Low Mans Lyric!
