GODSMACK, STAIND, SHADOWS FALL Among Nominees At BOSTON MUSIC AWARDS - Aug. 31, 2005

GODSMACK, STAIND, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE and SHADOWS FALL are among the nominees for the 18th annual Boston Music Awards, set to take place September 28 at the city's Avalon Ballroom. GODSMACK received a total of three nods, including one in the Male Vocalist of the Year category for Sully Erna, who will compete against STAIND's Aaron Lewis, SHADOWS FALL's Brian Fair and three other singers.

	3 of those 4 bands are from Springfield in western Massachusetts which Boston considers another state untill they can claim credit for something that came from that part of the state

	A city awards show? How fucking gay.That is such self promoting bullshit.I mean thats like the modern trend of giving all the kids ribbons for just showing up?How low and second best does that city feel? I've heard its so annoying to be in that area these days with thier sports teams winning lately.Get over yourselves,it cant last.You have to have other things to be confident about rather than sports teams and stupid award shows like this!

	Killswitch Engage and Shadows Fall are the only two bands that belonf to this new american Metalcore scene that I like, the rest doesn't appeal to me at all, but those two are pretty damn good.

	I live in Boston and I can't stand Godsmack and Staind. I can only moderately tolerate the other mentioned bands, but get bored of listening to them quick. Why don't you ever hear about local bands like Sam Black Church (RIP), We're All Gonna Die, Sumo, or your own mentioned screen name make the waves at this event? It's been around long enough to recognize true local metal.

	i dislike the bands mentioned too..its true that this award show is lame since it doesnt even cover 99 percent of the amazing bands that come from MA.

	It only gives props to the bands that made some form of mainstream progress, which is a slight handful compared to what you mentioned. That's why it's always the same ten rock/metal bands getting the awards. it is kinda like how Sgt. D mentions above: the popular bands get ribbons for showing up.

	It's not just the sports, Boston is one of the most beautiful, culturally diverse European-like cities in America with the best hospitals in the world.... and a lot cleaner than New York :)

	It's funny how Boston takes credit for people from way the heck out in Springfield (Staind, Shadows Fall). Heck, sometimes they'll take credit for Weezer and Moby from freakin' Connecticut. To the person who wondered where Isis is, is Isis really "from" Massachusetts? I think they're about as from Massachusetts as Dream Theater is. RED SOX - 2004 WORLD CHAMPIONS!!!
