DISTURBED Drummer's Onstage Proposal - Sep. 1, 2005
At last night's (Aug. 31) DISTURBED show in Milwaukee WI, drummer Mike Wengren proposed to his girlfriend onstage. Before the set closer, "Stupify", DISTURBED frontman David Draiman handed the mic over to Mike, who explained how he's spent a lot of time in Milwaukee recently and how he met his girlfriend here. He then invited her onstage and proposed to her (and, of course, she said yes). The band congratulated him, had some shots, and then proceeded to finish the show.

DISTURBED's third album, "Ten Thousand Fists", is scheduled for release on September 20 via Reprise. The album features the debut of new bassist John Moyer (ex-THE UNION UNDERGROUND).

As previously reported, Todd McFarlane created the album cover for "Ten Thousand Fists" (view cover art at Spawn.com). Aside from creating the wildly popular comic book character Spawn, McFarlane also designed the album cover for KORN 's "Follow the Leader" as well as the video for "Freak on a Leash" and PEARL JAM 's "Do the Evolution".

DISTURBED will headline the Jagermeister Music Tour in November, followed by the Music As A Weapon III trek in 2006. A short U.K. trek is scheduled for October.

DISTURBED's debut album, "The Sickness" (2000) has sold 3.45 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It follow-up, 2002's "Believe", has shifted 1.58 million copies to date.

most metal bands have vocalists that sound the same on everything they put out. death metal, black metal, metalcore, thrash, power metal, i mean i fucking love those bands. but it seems hypocritical to whine about the vocalist of a numetal band but praise the other non numetal bands that do the same thing. i'm not saying you did praise non numetal bands but there must be something out of the genres i mentioned that you liked.

It's cool if you find someone you feel THAT way about.

As for the new Disturbed album. I've been listening for a couple of weeks and it's good but not as good as the last. Draiman's a good metal singer not a great one and we all know who the great ones are (and here's a tip kids they're not in Mastodon or Shadows Fall).

Ohhh look an actual mature intelligent comment on here from someone who's been listening to metal for 30 yrs.

Can you all handle it ???

It sounded to me from the few songs that I heard that Disturbed has guitar solos in their songs. So, if a band has guitar solos, what is "nu metal" about them? I thought that Nu metal was basically a few chords played over and over and no guitar solos? Is it now that Nu Metal is anything that isn't black or death metal?

Good luck, brother - you're gonna need it.

As for their music, all that shit sounds the same to me - lot of grunting, growling, and noise. Some good grooves, but not much else.

But I really do wish these two the best of luck and send out a big congrats on the proposal.

Good luck to the guy and all, but I wouldn't wanna see little lovey dovey emotional moments at a metal show. I'd rather see a bunch of bitches get naked. Rob Zombie plays that perfectly.

But that cover is pretty sweet. Too bad Draiman almost ruined it with ""We wanted to bring our old icon, the Disturbed smiley face, whom we call 'the guy,' to life."

"The guy"? You call it "the guy"? Shit, if that's the best you can do, don't bring it up in public. I always wished Metallica would come up with something a little better than "Scary Guy" for that demon stencil James did, but at least they spent 10 seconds coming up with an adjective.

Obviously Disturbed have been catagorized into the "NU METAL" genre by alot of your Blabbermouth readers thus spawning all this negative reaction towards the band. Most of the the negative posts are probally from people who only heard one or two Disturbed songs, and made a decison based on that. But it's been 5 years since The Sickness, and this band has made alot of progress since then. 10,000 fists is fuckin amazing, and I am sure alot of you haters will be floored when you hear songs like "Overburden" or "Avarice", which are totally two different styled songs with really tasty solo's.

With all that being said I think this band could one day become as big as Metallica in terms of fanbase etc. That is just my opinion. Either way I think Disturbed is a breath of fresh air, and has their own sound instead of sounding like eveybody else.
Sure the animal noises can get a bit old, and the singer takes himself way too seriously, but shit this band definitley is the future of mainstream metal. :D

Look I respect everyone's opinion of Disturbed's music, but if you're just coming here to tell everyone you hate them and make stupid comments, then what's the point in posting at all? Anywayz.......I'm really happy for Mike and his girl. Congrats.
