KORN To Release New Album In November

KORN frontman Jonathan Davis has told MTV Italy that the group have set a November 22 release date for their new album, the group's first since the departure of guitarist Brian "Head" Welch and the band's split with Epic Records. Download a video file containing the nine-minute interview, which was conducted last Sunday prior to the band's appearance at MTV Italy's Coca-Cola Live event, at the KORN fan site EmaKorn.it. KORN's as-yet-untitled new effort was mixed by Terry Date, who has previously worked with such artists as DEFTONES, PANTERA and SOULFLY, among others. Matrix ( AVRIL LAVIGNE, THE MOONEY SUZUKI) and Atticus Ross ( BAD RELIGION, PINK) were responsible for the production duties on the follow-up to 2003's "Take a Look in the Mirror", with no songs from the band's sessions with Dallas Austin slated to appear on the effort. Songtitles set to appear on the CD include "Liar", "Politix", "Last Legal Drug", "Le Petit Mort", "It's Me Again", "Coming Undone", "I've Seen It All" and "Souvenir of Sadness". KORN's last release, "Greatest Hits, Vol. 1" ( Immortal/ Epic), featuring highlights from the first 10 years of the band's recording career, has sold around 970,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. KORN are believed to be close to inking a new record deal with EMI/ Virgin. The proposed deal is said to be for two albums and a one-third interest in the band's publishing, merchandising and ticket sales as part of a new contractual model, a la Robbie Williams.

1- Not all nu metal acts have "rap" in them. Some have electronics but no rap.
2- The big trend in advertizing and what is used as being hot and cool at the moment is rap/hip hop like. You wanna sell an mp3 player, yogurt or clothes? JUST PUT A FUNKY BEAT and slap the words "fichisel my nisel" on top, and your shit will sell.
I can't wait for that "trend" to die, though (see #2)

This band has worn out their welcome! Every album they put out sounds just like the last. How is it that cumdumpsters like Korn can sell a million copies, and bands like the mighty OPETH sell a fraction of that? I was into it when they were new (they killed grunge much like Nervana killed hairband metal...gotta give them that at least). I lost interest shortly after their trendy new sound broke out like the Bubonic Plague. Ten years later, not much has changed in what they put out. Giving Head to God isn't enough to sell me.
I've only ever liked every other album from them. Didn't care for the last (not including greatest hits here), so IMO, they are overdue. We'll see then.

First of all, when have Jonathan Davis rapped in KoRn? He's not doing rap. And you stupid fuck who said every KoRn record sounds the same? Are you for real? You can't heard KoRn at all obviously, they keep evolving for every record but still keep the typical KoRn sound that makes them so special. You mean if you don't hate a band because everyone else has jumped onto the next trend you're a poser? This is coming from a guy who actually has the word "freak" in his screen name... Korn are far from the greatest band in the world... but there are much worst out there. It's not like Korn use rap that frequently- sure they've put out some shitty songs with Chino, Fred Durst, Ice Cube and Nas, but they've also put out some ballsy shit- Blind kicks ass on so many levels. I'll definately check out the next CD when it comes out.

Well i happen to listen to all those bands and somehow i still manage to thoroughly enjoy such "nu-metal" bands as KoRn and even *gasp* Limp Bizkit.
Don't get me wrong, the list you made is full of great bands, but if you're gonna tell people what "metal is all about" you might wanna check out some old-school MetallicA, In Flames, Shadows Fall, Dark Tranquillity, Arch Enemy, etc.
The fact of that matter is that even though nu-metal is considerably more simple than traditional metal, it has spawned some of the most original bands in decades. (Ex. System Of A Down, KoRn, etc.)

Well first off, that was compilation album that sold almost a million copies. If OPETH put out an album of their best stuff it would probably top the 100 chart... I'm not talking the billboard 100, I just mean they may sell 100 copies.
Opeth and most of the groups all you little kids think are good, are horrible. I saw the video for the new Opeth (I guess it's new) and I was not impressed at all.
More over, it's groups like Opeth that really agrevate me. I saw something the other day where they said they haven't sold out. Well let me tell you something. It's kinda hard to sell out when you can't even sell your album.
You kiddies need to get off this marble-mouth crap and start listening to the groups that are truly keeping metal alive.
BTW, this Korn album could be their best ever. Terry Date has produced some of my favorite albums from Pantera, Soundgarden and White Zombie.
But even if the album sucks...it will still outsell OPETH 15 fold.

They're not traditional metal but they have definitely earned their fame. They never had any hits right out of the box like say Linkin Park. They were original and developed a loyal following through relentless touring and eventually hit it big. If that's not an honest way to achieve success then I don't know what is. And even though they're influenced by hip hop and have had rappers make guest appearances, the music they create is not rap. If anything, they take the little good that hip hop actually has and incorporate it into heavy music. I'm not trying to convince anyone to like them, but it is ignorant to say they're a shitty band. You know what I think is shitty? All of the cookie-cutter bands that simply copy other bands. It used to be nu-metal, and now (unfortunately) it's happening to metalcore.
Oh, and Opeth is fucking awesome. The Ghost Reveries is one of my favorite albums to come out this year so far.

How Korn haters think that just because you listen to Korn that you have to hate "real metal".
I never paid any attention to what genre of music the stuff was that I listen to. If a band has a cool vibe to them then I'll listen to them, if they sound stupid to me then I won't listen to them. I don't care if it's "real metal" or "Nu-Metal". If you discriminate by genre, you're just joining the flock of ignorent sheep/fans.
Here's a list of the kinds of stuff I like,
Dream Theatre
Steve Vai
Korn
Children of Bodem
Hammerfall
Led Zeppelin
Metallica
Slayer
Yanni(yes, that "new age s#(*" as some of you will surely call it lol)
There's ton's more but yeah..
Thing is, I don't religiously listen to any of these, and I surely don't like every single song every one of those groups/artists put out! I just listen to stuff here and there, buy a CD here and there...

Good points, I actaully agree with you and was just picking a current group to throw back into everyone's faces.
You actaully made a point that I made in another thread a week ago... My point was more about "underground" and the argument was about how underground bands are true and non-sellouts. My point was that even SOAD is underground compared to Justin and Britney.
I don't like Opeth, this isn't the first song I have heard from them. But I will say this, I have bought a lot of albums just based on the reviews here on blabbermouth and 80% of them are way off. Most of these groups like Nevermore (one I purchased recently) have like one good song and then everything else is very uninspired and bland.
If they play the Opeth song on the next HBB, I will check it out again, but I just don't think I like them.
But you know what. Who cares, everyone likes different music. Trying to classify groups into Metal, numetal, hardcore, deathmetal, thrash, blah, blah blah. My genre is better than your genre...who cares.
Like love SOAD, loved Pantara, Loved Metallica (pre black album), loved GNR... sure they are all pretty big hits, so maybe I like the more successful stuff. But I also loved Life of Agony's first album (didn't like any others)...and I would think they are underground.
Then there is that..."the most underground band wins" or "the band that doesn't sellout and makes the least amount of money"
Here is the cold hard truth. Even though I don't like all that "pop" music like Britney, I do respect them as artists.
And you have to think of it this way. If 7 million people buy Britney's last album and 10,000 people buy Opeth's last album...forget what you think about the music, wouldn't it stand to reason that Britney is a better musician? I mean if her music appeals to more people...doesn't that in turn make it better?
Sure I would rather listen to Slayer than Britney, but it doesn't change the fact that if more people like her music ...she is a better artist.
You can forget all that technical stuff too... That argument doesn't hold water. I mean I splatter 16 million colors on a canvas with different strokes and swirls...is it art.......sure.......is it good, well that's up to each person's opinion. But the fact of the matter is if it doesn't sell....and listen carefully it ISN'T AS GOOD AS SOMETHING THAT DOES SELL.....I don't care if it's a painting of dogs playing poker.
Saying that POP music and music that sells is "selling out" and "not good" and "wanabies" etc... Is just a way for you to try and sell someone that your genre is better than their genre.
I really don't like posting on these boards, but you get some really stupid people on here that hate groups just because they make money...get over yourselves. Money makes the world go round and everyone...even your beloved Opeth want more money. Did you stop and think they just can't do it....they can't come up with a album that would sell. They may even be too scared to try. What would happen if they tried to come up with a popular album and it fails....then they lose what little fan base they have and show the world that they can't compete with Korn or SOAD or even NewTallica.
I know I come off as a complete anti-Opethite...but really I'm not. I have only heard two songs...one a year or so ago, I think the guy was like at a piano or something. Then this new one on the "Ball," but I'm open minded and I will give them another chance.
EVEN THOUGH MOST OF YOU WILL WRITE OFF GROUPS THAT SELL IN A HEARTBEAT.

They're innovative and are not afraid to experiment. Who the fuck cares what the genre is called?? Good music is good music. That a whole genre would die just because it's not "trendy" anymore is the stupidest statement I've ever heard. Personally I can't tell one band from another when it comes to extreme metal, so I find it incredibly uninteresting... but sure... if listening to those bands make u look cooler, go ahead.
