GNOSTIC: Former ATHEIST Drummer Releases First New Music Since 1991 - Sep. 8, 2005
GNOSTIC, the new band featuring former ATHEIST drummer Steve Flynn, have posted two demo tracks at www.myspace.com/gnosticmusic. The songs "Wall of Lies" and "Splinters of Change" mark Flynn's first recordings since the legendary ATHEIST album "Unquestionable Presence" was recorded in 1991.

Commented Flynn: "When the music was refined to a point that it was ready to be heard, I let the cat out of the bag, so to speak, to my oldest friend — and co-founder of ATHEISTKelly Shaefer. Shaefer flew up to Atlanta and went into LedBelly Sound Studios with GNOSTIC to attend the sessions and lend his considerable experience to the effort." An official GNOSTIC web site will be launched within the next two weeks.

GNOSTIC is:

Kevin Freeman (ENDERS GAME, AOS, CAUSTIC THOUGHT) - Vocals
Sonny Carson (CORPSEWORM, SEVERED) - Guitar
Todd Simpson (CAUSTIC THOUGHT) - Guitar
Stephen Morley (CORPSEWORM, AOS, CAUSTIC THOUGHT) - Bass
Steve Flynn (ATHEIST) - Drums

Atheist is fucking incredible... I wish Steve Flynn, and all the members of that legendary band, the best of luck in their future endeavors.

This obviously isn't the same Vancouver based Caustic Thought from the early 90's that Jed and Byron and for a short time Devin from Strapping Young Lad were in.

Flynn is an amazing drummer! Atheist is one of the most underated bands ever! C'mon Kelly, we know you didn't make it into Velvet Revolver, so reunite Atheist for just 1 tour! R.I.P. Roger Patterson. It is an insult that bands like Atheist go unoticed, and bands like Korn sell a million copies!

good music! it's definitely in the vein of atheist!!! i'm sure with better production and vocal mixing (it's only a myspace quality mp3 anyway) this could be a great album.

sounds very good.
Somehow thrashy vocals - I dig the two songs quite a bit and hope there will be more of this project/band in the future.

Steve's an amazing drummer. Atheist were definitely ahead of their time and offered something different to the scene. (Gnostic) I like the music a lot. The vocals aren't really my taste, but they'll do. I hope they can secure a record deal soon.

All hail a man in league with Danny Carey or Martin Lopez.

I really hope it's not just a clever name

the music sounds great. definatley some atheist sounding stuff. could use slightly better vocals like say Kellys. but I can live it. will pick up the cd if, and when it comes out.

COMMENT | Listened to the demo songs...

...and I thought they were great. It's nice to see these great musicians from the Atlanta scene hooking up with Steve Flynn. This looks like it could be a band to watch out for!
