SAMMY HAGAR Raises $20,000 For Victims Of Hurricane Katrina
- Sep. 15, 2005

|
Launch Radio Networks reports: Sammy Hagar did what he does best last weekend to raise money for hurricane relief efforts. He took to the stage on Saturday (September 10) for a quickly assembled free performance with the house band at his Cabo Wabo Cantina in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, where attendees donated more than $20,000. Hagar said, "I want to thank the TNT house band for learning a bunch of my songs overnight and to the Cabo Wabo fans who stood in line to support this event in the brutally hot weather. To see the Cabo Wabo fill up with people wanting to do their part for the cause made this night very special. I've played many nights here — this one will stand out. The important thing, though, is that we got to the magic number $20K — not bad for a little bar in Cabo."
All the money raised at the show went to Americares, the non-profit organization that provides both immediate and long-term aid to people in disaster areas around the world. More information is available at americares.org.
Hagar is glad to help out whenever he's able, but he said that he's never picked a cause with the idea of putting himself in the spotlight. "To me, it stinks a little bit of trying to do something that makes you look cool and you look good, and no — you gotta do it for the right reason," he said. "You do it for those people. It's all about trying to do something for somebody else when you do that. That's just gotta be the reason you do it."

Sammy is one of the few good guys out there willing to do anything for his fans. Alot of bands talk the talk and not very many of them walk the walk. He is one of the hardest working guys around.
Who says he didn't give more or donate auction items or isn't going to do more???
Read the posting first dumbass. It isn't Sammy giving money it was the customers in his bar that donated that much money. Which isn't to bad since his bar I believe only holds around 600 people or so at best.

it's wholly likely that Sammy DID give a sum to the cause, but true to his statement at the end of the story here: why call attention to that part of it, when the point is that this $ came from a handful of fans in Cabo, at a moment's notice?

Excuss me? Are you retarded? How much have you sent? For your information, the week of the hurricane, Sammy sent his complete inventory of his extensive clothing line and concert shirts to the people in New Orleans. And, just because you are rich doesn't mean you throw money at all the causes in the world. He pays plenty in taxs to aid the help. And, how do you know he isn't humble and sent money but doesn't want to advertise it? You guys need to look in the mirror, because you have big issues with hatred and resentment of succesful happy people. You are pathetic....not to mention extreamly imature.

The really cool thing about Sammy is he'll give you the shirt off his back and use his boxing skills to put the smack down on stupid fucks that use racism, inbreeding, republicanism as an excuse to hate.

That's really sweet that he did that! but there's not much use when we are just going to get TAXED to death anyway for the natural disaster, when really we should do something more democracy like and send individual donations to victims until its all paid for plus where are those damn insurance companies when you need them? lol :)

hairmetalgod666/Scott Weiland's Orange Juice: Here's one way to solve the debate over how much money certain celebrities are donating to relief funds: Contribute something yourselves so that celebrities don't feel they're the only people that are obligated to do so.
And before you judge I donated a couple of pints of blood for the victims in lieu of financial donations that I simply don't have. It's the seventh time I've given blood for the record.
