GUNS N' ROSES To Contribute New Song To 'The Da Vinci Code' Soundtrack? - Sep. 20, 2005
According to a recent article published by the Canyon News, GUNS N' ROSES frontman Axl Rose told a fan in Malibu, California a few weeks ago that the group's long-awaited new album, "Chinese Democracy" will be released early next year. In addition, he allegedly revealed that GUNS N' ROSES are looking to put a new song on "The Da Vinci Code" movie soundtrack. The film (more information), based on Dan Brown's controversial best-selling novel, is currently in production and stars Tom Hanks.

"Chinese Democracy" will feature the band's first new music since "Oh My God", the group's contribution to the soundtrack to the 1999 movie "End of Days". The group's last studio album was a covers CD, "The Spaghetti Incident?", which was released in 1993.

In March 2004, Geffen Records issued a GUNS N' ROSES "Greatest Hits" album, which has since gone on to sell 2.36 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

GUNS N' ROSES singer Axl Rose and fellow original members Slash and Duff McKagan tried to block the "Greatest Hits" album's release by arguing in a lawsuit that Geffen Records was putting out the CD without their input. Geffen officials countered that they wouldn't have released the album if Rose had delivered the long-promised album "Chinese Democracy", which has been in the works for over 10 years.

Is that the Live At The Ritz show? I have some of that show. I know what you mean about the magic. That show was the shit.
Although, I can understand what uh huh meant saying it was embarrasing, but it's a rock show and not a fashion show. But really, for '88 it was the shit.

Force feed the masses with tepid, ill-concieved nonesense and allow the media to create its own band-wagon that everyone suddenly wants to jump on and go "Oh it's such a good story etc.". Bollocks.

Just like a lot of people here make the effort to listen to non-mainstream music and go out and find and develop their own tastes, there are thousands of better and more challenging books out there that people should be reading instead of this "hollywood action-film mentality" fiction.

Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with a bit of throw-away fiction or hollywood action films once in a while but when people (especially the media) put crap like this up on a pedestal and make it bigger that it deserves to be it pisses me off.

Don't Obey.
Don't Consume.
Don't Conform.

Maybe Axl could put one song from CD onto selected soundtracks over the next year and pretty soon we'd have the entire album. Can you imagine what the liner notes are gonna be like on that album? What, like, 30 different musicians and 80 different engineers, etc.

Dan Brown has penned a poorly written, atrociously researched mess. This book claims that Jesus Christ was married to Mary Magdalene, that a child was born of this marriage, and that Mary and her child fled after the crucifixion to Gaul, where they established the Merovingian line of European royalty. The book attacks the Catholic Church for hiding the "truth" about Jesus Christ, that He married Mary Magdalene, intending her to be the head of His Church, rather than Peter!

Brown has crossed the line between a suspense novel and a book
promoting a barely hidden agenda. It is not historically accurate.

Before I started reading this book I had a rough idea what it was about but oh fuck me I was horribly disappointed.

Dan Burstein's SECRETS OF THE CODE, another book, is 1000 times better all the missing links and facts from DA VINCI CODE you will find in there !!!! If / Whatever ?!

It's not a historical treatise and it's not supposed to be. Is a work of fiction and an enjoyable one at that.

I read the book. i enjoyed the book. I understand that it's FICTION (as you obviously did as well).

VR might have their new album out before Guns, but it will suck just like the last one. Axl was the leader, the talent and the heart and soul of guns n roses. He wrote more of the music then any of the other guys. And the hew album is gonna be brilliant.

Axl is the last untamed great rockstar. VR justs plain sucks donkey balls.

I haven't read The Da Vinci Code, but I thought Angels and Demons was a great book. I've heard that if you've read one, you've essentially read the other, so I can't imagine not liking the Da Vinci Code.

Don't care about the historical innaccuracies. It's fiction, afterall.

Another book full of historical innaccuracies but also an enjoyable read is James Patterson's "The Jester".
