SEETHER Pay Tribute To Fallen PANTERA Guitarist - Sep. 26, 2005
South African hard rockers SEETHER reportedly performed a cover of PANTERA's "Walk" during their concert at San Francisco's Civic Auditorium Sunday night (Sept. 25) as a tribute to fallen PANTERA/DAMAGEPLAN guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott. The San Francisco show was the second night of SEETHER's North American tour as the support act for AUDIOSLAVE. It is not presently clear if SEETHER's cover of "Walk" will be performed at every stop on SEETHER's current tour.

SEETHER's latest album, "Karma and Effect", has sold 398,000 copies in the United States since its late May release, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

SEETHER and AUDIOSLAVE are scheduled to perform at Portland, Oregon's Rose Garden Arena on Tuesday (Sept. 27).

Awesome.

How come we've got shitty bands covering awesome songs now? First Raining blood is defiled by some numetal assholes now this. as far as Im concerned, Ozzfest 04 when Phil and Superjoint played Becoming was the only legit Pantera cover....

I know the Drummer of this band personally, When they were in SOUTH AFRICA they were called SARON GAS - then they still kicked horrible ass... they go to the USA - change the name - AND CHANGE THEIR SOUND FUCKING COMPLETELY = More radio friendly guitar driven pop / crap

FUCK - and that's one of my Favourite PANTERA songs as well

Oh well whatever tickles their fannies...hey

Let them all play WALK it needs to be played.
I seen Disturbed play it a few years back and they kicked it out pretty nicely.

DIME would love this shit because DIME loved everyone.

There are three ways to get a cheap pop from the crowd...

1. Say how cool the city is your in.
2. Dedicate something to the army.
3. Talk about Dime.

Cheap pop.

SEETHER ARE A PSEUDO-HEAVY METAL SPIN OFF OF NIRVANA. (AND OH... THOSE ANGST RIDDEN VOCALS.) JUST LIKE NIRVANA COVERING THIS SONG WHAT ARE THEY GOING TO DO WHEN THE SOLO COMES. MAYBE SUBSTITUTE SOME SHOTGUN BLASTS FOR 12 BARS OF THE MUSIC FOR DRAMATIC EFFECT OR PROBABLY JUST USE A LITTLE FEEDBACK AND NOISE. I MEAN THEY ARE JUST TO COOL FOR SOLOS. ONE WAY OR ANOTHER THEY WILL TRY TO SCAM IT AND MAYBE IT WILL LEAD TO THEIR DEMISE MUCH SOONER!!!

um...Seether is doing this at almost every show, why is this being presented as a total suprise in S.F.

Seether is NOT metal..and they dont claim to be either. Hard Rock....I will take, but dont even put the word "Metal" by them.

And I gotta agree, this isnt some publicity stunt to get more attendee's or listeners. They, like the rest of thebands on the bill just happen to have liked the bands they tribute...as well, they just didnt do Pantera, but Alice in Chains, as well as Lynard Skinard.

This isn't something new...Seether have been covering this song, like all summer! They play it as part of "Because Of Me," in the bridge. It's not "exclusive" to the Audioslave tour.

And people, stop the useless trashing of this band. For one thing, the dude who claims to know the band doesn't know the drummer...because he left after "Disclaimer" and joined Static-X. They have a new drummer. And just because a band who is already popular chooses to pay tribute doesn't mean it doesn't come from the heart. A lot of people loved Dime and were inspired by him, and vice versa. He must be rolling in his grave listening to all you blabbercunts whining and bitching. Grow up.

I was there when the Dime tragedy went down so I think I speak for most people that were there when I say that it's cool that bands are showing some Dime love. I mean fuck just because you don't like Seether doesn't mean they can't do covers. I've seen Seether do several covers part of "Good Friend and a Bottle of Piles" and "Walk" and to be honest with you. It was actually pretty good considering the style of music they do. Like what ScorpionRadio said they did Alice in Chains and Lynyrd Skynyrd and nobody is bitching that they are trying to be southern rock. A cover is a cover. A tribute is a tribute. If they put out a fucking cover of Walk on they're next album then yea... THATS A PUBLICITY STUNT. But what they do at they're shows doesn't mean shit cuz they've been doin it all summer and none of you douchebags even knew until now. So I find it hard to believe that anyone that saw it objected that much since it took that long to make the "news".

Pantera has more than one song. Hell, I don't even think it's their best song by a long shot. It's probably the most simple song in their catalog and it's kinda repetative. Play something else for fuck's sake. Fucking Hostile anyone?

'Walk' is an overdone cover anymore. but i've seen some good covers of Pantera the last couple of years. saw Drowning Pool do a nearly flawless cover of "Message in Blood" at the Machine Shop in Flint, MI this summer. probably the best cover i saw was during the Chimaira/Machine Head/Trivium tour a year ago at Harpos. Machine Head's singer came out and strapped on a guitar during what ended up being a 10, almost 15 minute jam session during the middle of their set, its been like a year or so, but they did big chunks of Pantera's "A New Level", then broke into the intro to "Walk" (complete with the break and the spoken word thing that Phil did on the Live 101 Proof album, Mark and the entire crowd fucking quoted Phil's spiel from the CD word for word with a huge ovation), then they played the first verse, then went on to playing Slayer's "South of Heaven", then they did some Sepultura as well, i think they did "Refuse/Resist" and "Biotech is Godzilla" it was a pretty fucking awesome jam session. if anybody saw that Chimaira/Machine Head tour, either at Harpos or any other part of that tour and saw them do that, it was pretty fucking badass. not all bands do shitty renditions. it was pretty fucking tight and pretty flawless.

it was during Chimaira's set the jam i mention happened. the guy from Machine Head came out to join in. maybe i wasn't too clear. oh well. regardless, it was probably the best show of 2004 i saw other than Ozzfest 2004, which was the best Ozzfest ever i think. and after that jam, and with Chimaira's new album, i honestly can never take any detractors of Chimaira seriously on them not being good musicians or for that matter not being a good band. one of the few bands out there in the last few years that have some success that're doing it right.

They covered it in youngstown too. They also covered AIC's "man in the box", Deftones "Change" (which sounded better than the last time I saw the deftones perform it), and "Sweet Home Alabama".
Not metal. I'll give you that but it was one hell of a show. Good music is good music. If you don't like it thats fine and dandy but S.T.F.U. about them not being aloud to cover it. You don't hear light rock listeners pissing and moaning about machine head covering "message in a bottle" or spineshanks version of "while my guitar gently weeps".
Of course you haters probably can't stand them either because they are "nue metal shit" and that would be followed up with "Slayer". You all need to broaden your musical tastes.

Do you really think Seether is capitalizing on playing WALK. Get a fucking life. They do it as a TRIBUTE and for the fun of it. I saw them live about six weeks ago and they talked about how tragic Dime's death was and how there has been alot of falling musicians over the last few years who died from alot of different causes. They also talked about bands who have really influcaned them over the years. So they went on to playing WALK (which by the way sounded pretty damn good), then went into Deftones "Change" which also sound fucking great, and lastly they had the lead singer of Dark New Day(ex-skrape singer I believe) come out and sign A.I.C. "Man in the box" which also was done great.

I'm by no means a big fan of Seether. But compare to a lot crap that is put out on so called Rock or Metal radio stations they are one of the more complete bands out there. There first album is a great raw rock album. If you never listen to the whole album its alot more harder then what is released on the radio. There new album is pretty solid CD also. But I do believe its a little to polished.

I know most of you Jackass's don't understand 2 + 2= 4 just by your stupid fucking posts that have no thought or logic behind them. So in the end if I understand your train of thought it basically comes down to that if any band covers another bands song they fucking suck for doing it and are only looking to capitalize on it.

Oh well enough rambling on to some of you idiots that just dont' get it, I'm sure your mom has been yelling for you to come up from the basement to clean the kitchen or maybe I'm taking you away from your paper route that you have had since your 13 and your 30th birthday is right around the corner.

Battery, that also has to be one of the dumbest assumptions ever made, but then again, all you did is make an ass of yourself.
