DAVE MUSTAINE Makes Up His Mind Regarding Future Of MEGADETH

MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine has posted the following message in the "Forums" section of the band's official web site:
"I have made up my mind [regarding whether I will continue with MEGADETH or pursue a solo career] and will tell you all on the night of the Buenos Aires concert [on October 9]. It will be up to the fans in Argentina to break the news to you after their last song."
Mustaine recently parted ways with Sanctuary Records, the label that released three album from MEGADETH, including 2004's critically acclaimed "The System Has Failed", which debuted at No. 18 on The Billboard 200 chart. The latest MEGADETH release, "Greatest Hits: Back to the Start" (Capitol), entered the Billboard chart at No. 65 and has sold 92,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. On the concert front, MEGADETH headlined this summer's inaugural Gigantour package tour with DREAM THEATER, FEAR FACTORY and others. The six-week festival trek — with the fan-friendly ticket price of approximately $35 each — was the brainchild of Mustaine, who hand-picked the bands for Gigantour with a focus on musicianship.

He is giving an announcement of a future announcement. Why dont you tell us now instead of wasting time. If your decision is up to the fans, please retire already since you have not had any good album since COUNTDOWN.... It is obvious that you already started your solo career since the beginning of megadeth due to the revolving lineups throughtout. Give up already!!!!!!!!!

I'm a big Megadeth fan, not a huge fan, but I have all his albums. But I too am getting tired of all of this secrecy. Just get it out and done with man. He's not the same man he was when he wrote Rust In Peace and that but c'mon, give the people what they want, some kick ass thrash music. I don't care if you are born again or whatever, I know he can do it. The last one was on the right track and I haven't been as disappointed as with " 'tallica " but the people want quality again.

IT's a Metal Store where we will sell Heavy Metal merchandise, music, apparrel, and accessories. I want your takes on what location you would like for it to be in and where do you think is the best Rock Scene here in Florida?

Gigantour was NOT a smashing success. They were lucky if they broke even, playing to half filled venues every night. I think this will be the end of Megadeth.

1) Megadeth has enjoyed it's biggest success in over a decade
2) He has Gigantour, which given the state of Ozzfest, there is room for a challenger even if it's not playing the huge sheds
3)Like someone said before, Megadeth is essentially Dave's band anyway, so what's the difference? Yeah, maybe solo you are not beholden to play 'deth tunes, but then you'll be playing in front of 10 people in no time.
4) You think Mustaine is going to go all the way to Argentina and get up in front of all the crazed fans (And it will be a big show) and announce he's through with Megadeth?
Enough with the charade Mustaine.....it looks silly. Just put out the goods and announce the tours and be professional.

After many albums with the totally stable lineup of Elefsen Friedman and Menza... the band splits up.
then Mustaine shows up with some relatively unknown young guys as his compliant backing band.
What is different about that from going "solo" ?
Sadly, if he called it "the NEW MUSTAINE BAND", many people wouldn't come out to see it, even though, somehow, the same thing, labeled as "Megadeth" attracts a crowd.

Got news for ya, if it wern't for us idiots, albums like Rust in Peace would never had made it to your prepubecent ears. If not for us, it would have been forgotten by now. We have carried the fucking torch, endured the friggin nineties and deal with the trends today. The thrash of the eighties reigns supreme and we witnessed it, lived it and can judge all music from a view you will never truly understand. Plus, girls your age like older guys- you did say 18 right? hahahahah I'm 34, so I can't speak for 30 year olds, but I feel our geneartion lived in the greatest time for music.
That said, I am glad there are younger kids who appreciate real thrash.

It doesn't matter if Dave Mustaine decides to go solo, or if he decides to keep Megadeth going. As long as he puts out good music.
Actually, he could do both if he wanted to. I believe that King Diamond used to put out solo material, and also Mercyful Fate material. He didn't have to pick one or the other. He did both.
In fact, it would be beneficial for Mustaine to do both. If he wants to put out styles of music that wouldn't fit under the "Megadeth" banner, he could include it in his solo work. And then, whenever he wants to put out a metal CD, he could put it out as a Megadeth CD.
