Italian MANOWAR Spoof Band Are 'Gay' And Proud

Italian power metal band NANOWAR have spoofed a well-known macho heavy metal legend with their album "Other Bands Play ... Nanowar Gay". Not only does the album cover spoof MANOWAR's "Fighting the World" album sleeve, it also twists the well-known MANOWAR battle cry from "slay" to "gay" and portrays the heroes in suitable VILLAGE PEOPLE-style attire. Needless to say, the album, with songtitles such as "Tricycles of Steel" and "Power of the Power of the Power (Of the Great Sword)", is the best-selling item on the newly opened www.rockdetector.com indie CD store too. Based in Rome, NANOWAR comprises vocalist Potowotominimak, guitarists Gatto Panceri 666 and Mohammed Abdul, with Uinona Raider on drums. I'm a big Rhapsody fan and I think Nanowar are funny. If you actually take the time to notice, some of these guys are actually fans of Rhapsody & Manowar.
But the way Joey is, these kids should be careful not to get sued. I'm sure he hasn't found out about this yet. But they're playing their songs and re-writing lyrics, I don't believe that is legal. Oh well.

Anyone who mocks Manowar knows absolutely nothing about Heavy Metal or what it stands for or the brotherhood which has been bastardized and adulterated beyond belief in the current American metal scene. As a fan of Manowar and a believer of TRU Heavy Metal, this stuff really pisses me off, but ultimately when Nanowar has had their 15 minutes of fame (which in this case will be all of 15 seconds), Manowar will still be kicking ass as they have been for over 20 years.

Necrodeath, Mortuary Drape, Opera IX, Raw Power, Cripple Bastards are well known and excellent.
America has lots of great metal bands too, INCLUDING MANOWAR WHO ARE FROM NEW YORK AND PROUD OF IT KULL.
Anyway, i don't think that either country has "the best" metal scene, that's a matter of taste anyway.
SWEDEN gets my vote when it comes to metal, punk and rock music in general. Incredible scene, it certainly butchers the italian one and even the american one.

Dude, I've seen one of the videos for Nanowar, and it's fucking hilarious. They're not really making fun of them as much as they're making fun of all of us, including themselves. It's really over the top stuff, but it's fucking hilarious. "This is the True Metal of Steel" is fucking great. Of course, Gli Atroci are infinitely better, but Nanowar mean no harm by any means.
No one is going to get hurt by this, due to the fact that Italians have a sense of humor and are pretty much laid back all the time. There will be no enraged fan of Manowar here in Italy because, again, they also have a sense of humor. If they didn't, they should be shot just out of principle.
Shit like that doesn't happen here like it does in the states. "Hey, you stepped on my foot, I'm gonna punch you in the dick!!!" Whatever. We Americans should just chill out and not be so high strung all the time. Fuckin' relax, already.

....I was only kidding about the "I hate Italians" part of my post.I was just fucking around,trying to get everybodys asshole in an uproar....and it worked.But your right about the signature sound thing Empress.Manowars got one,Slayers got one ect..
Nothing wrong with that at all.I'll just end the bickering by saying that I,myself,could not understand where one song ended and the next began when I saw(heard) Rhapsody live.I myself,also think that too many of their songs sound too much alike overall.It's my thing I guess.Obviously others feel different.I never said they were gay.Fuck....for that matter I'M GAY.....I'm boning T-Boner as we speak!

I re-read your post, momshotdad, and you proved to this entire message board what I was trying to say. The fact that you call Italy a "shit country" proves the fact that you know absolutely nothing about it, or the countries around it. Ok, even Italians don't like the French. Personally, I can't stand their music. Is it talented? Fuck yes. Is it boring? Fuck yes.
Rhapsody is kind of a joke here in Italy. A lot of people have a lot of respect for their talents, but they take it a bit seriously. Just watch their videos and you'll see what I mean. Wanna hear a kickass Italian death/thrash band? Slow Motion Apocalypse. They're really good friends of mine and we live about 10 minutes from each other; good drinking buddies and we go to each others' shows and stuff. Check 'em out.

Hey guys, I just want to make clear that I'm not trying to say, "Hey, I was in the military. Go me." I mentioned that because if I were a traitor, as he put it, then I probably wouldn't have gone to two different warzones to serve my country. I'm not trying to say, "Look at me! I'm in the military!" It was just a point I'm trying to make so I can disprove his theory about me being a traitor. The fact is that America has a lot of fucked up problems, but it's still my homeland and I will never leave it. I may live in Italy for a while, but I'll always be American and will never give up being American. I'm getting out of the AF in two months and staying here until I find something better. That doesn't make me a traitor. That just shows that when I see a good opportunity, I jump on it. Living here is great; my wife is Italian and we love living here. Our life is just better here. It's not that America is shit; far from it. We just like living here better. More metal concerts, easy life, travel abundant, and low crime and a great lifestyle. I just don't see how that makes me a traitor. I'm lucky, but not a traitor. I don't give a fuck what that fuckwit thinks, but the fact that I went to war for my country and this asshole calls me a traitor pisses me off. He's completely devoid of any culture or education, so it's no big deal. But it still pisses me off.
