JUDAS PRIEST Considering Putting Together Metal Package To Tour North America Next Summer - Oct. 13, 2005
In a recent interview with Lynn Saxberg of The Ottawa Citizen, JUDAS PRIEST guitarist K.K. Downing revealed that they're considering putting together a multi-act metal package to tour North America next summer, but they also want to make another album.

"It's pretty hectic," Downing said, noting that he'll be celebrating another birthday on stage this month.

"I think things have turned full circle and for bands like ourselves and [BLACK] SABBATH, there's not too many of us standing these days, still intact from the '70s. Bands like that basically got the ball rolling with this heavy metal thing all those years ago and I think it's one reason we're here today."

According to Downing, there is a whole new generation of kids itching to rock out to songs like "You've Got Another Thing Coming" and "Hell Bent for Leather".

"It's still guaranteed that PRIEST has a great following," said Downing. "Time moves on, and obviously people take their music with them. They're not suddenly going to start listening to jazz or classical music just because they're of a certain age.

"There's a perception that you should mellow out and do what your predecessors did, but that's not the case and it never will be. If you were a fan of JIMI HENDRIX or the CREAM or BLACK SABBATH or JUDAS PRIEST or whoever it is, you take your music with you through life, don't you," he said, "even though you might not always admit it to your next-door neighbor.

"But the great thing is now, we've got the best of it all because people are bringing their nieces, nephews, sons, daughters, even grandkids to the show. There's a new interest, probably because of the Ozzfest going on for quite some years. Parents are saying, 'You think that's metal, you want to come and see a good band.'

"Obviously, with Rob [Halford] back in the band, things are much bigger and better and more the way they used to be."

I didn't take him but my nephew went to the same show I did last month. He is now a Priest fan!

I would love it if they did something like Halford had going a few years ago; Testament, Immortal(maybe they can reunite for it?), Amon Amarth, etc. I think that would be asking too much though.

This would rule- Ozzfest is beyond tired and it's clearly time to put that cow out to pasture.

Besides, can you picture Halford shrieking like a little bitch on the mike and throwing eggs at Bruce?

Time to show Psycho Psharon she ain't the only game in town.

If they do it I bet it would rival Ozzfest. If I had to choose I know where I'd be going...Priestfest 2006! Here would be my dream lineup:

Judas Priest (Of course)
Dio
Iron Maiden
Opeth
Tool
System Of A Down (I like 'em and even if you don't, they WILL sell enough tickets to rival Ozzfest!)
Overkill
Slayer
Nevermore
Testament
Iommi w/Glenn Hughes playing selections from their KILLER new album "Fused"
Avenged Sevenfold (You guys might not like them but I do. Besides they can open the fest and would bring in a younger audience.)

Fuck the young crowd. There is a young crowd that exsists that listens to Heavy Metal and doesn't need bullshit bands to help fill in seats. Fuck them. Anyway.

Sabbath with Dio. True. But most unlikely. I would prefer to see Tony Martin and Dio do his own stuff.

PRIEST!
Dio
The Scorpions
Ac/Dc
AC-FUCKIN'-CEPT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Judas Priest
Iron Maiden
Dream Theater
AC/DC
Motorhead

Tuesday night was the best damn show I've been to in ages. Loud as hell, totally awesome. My voice went out, and I sounded like Glen Benton while I was singing along to Breakin the Law. I'd do it again in a minute. Although, while Anthrax was on, most of the people I saw were just standing there, with no interest..real shame.

Judas Priest
Slayer
Motorhead
Armored Saint (bring back John Bush)
Anthrax (W/Joey)
Scorpions (W/Michael Schenker and Uli Roth)

Bands not to attend
Megadeth (Go f%*# Jesus up the a!@, you moron)
Ki$$ (Get ace and Peter back or go to hell. Tommy Thayer is a good guitar player who has zero personality and even less to offer as live perforer. Stick to the studio, where no one cares that you have the charisma than a cold plate of nachos. Not even the good ones with real cheese, the kind you get at 2:00 am at a gas station.)
AC-DC (Still love Angus and the band, but without Bon, what's the use?)
Saxon (not enough original members)
