Drummer JEROME DILLON Is No Longer A Member Of NINE INCH NAILS - Oct. 30, 2005
NINE INCH NAILS have officially parted ways with drummer Jerome Dillon.

Dillon's ongoing health concerns forced the band to postpone two of their current tour's gigs last month; he dropped off the run following an October 1 performance in Los Angeles, reportedly to seek treatment for an unspecified heart condition. The group have since named Australian Alex Carapetis to the post.

In an October 28, 2005 online posting, Dillon wrote, "October 1, 2005 at the Hollywood Bowl was the last show that I will play with NINE INCH NAILS.

"Contrary to many published reports in the music press, I want to make it clear that my departure from the band has absolutely NOTHING to do with my health. I've learned much about myself and those around me (particularly in the last month) and it's brought about many positive changes. My association with the organization has opened many doors — I'm grateful and I'm ready to move on.

"Although I appreciate the concern, I am not sick or recuperating. I feel great (physically and otherwise) and am playing the best drums of my life right now."

NINE INCH NAILS are currently touring North America with QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE, with dates scheduled through November 20. A South American run will take place in late November.

I think that Trent should get Racci Shay (Dope / Genitorturers / The Rejects) to be his drummer, that guy fucking rocks.

Sad departure for a really nice guy.
I hope he's feeling better, i'm sad to see him leave NiN.

The coments he made seem like he feels betrayed by the band or Trent himself, calliong the band "the organization"

It kind of sounds like he may be dealing with a substance abuse problem from the way he put it. Wishing you the best of luck, Jerome.

If he actually does have a heart condition though, it would make sense for him to deny it. How many bands are going to hire a drummer with heart problems? Ask Kiss how that works. Rumor had it that they fired Eric Carr before he died partly because they didn't want their insurance to have to cover his hospital bills.

this happened before with Chris Verenna (sp?) he drummed on pretty hate machine and the downward spiral and then of course him and trent had their differences and chris left..... And jerome drummed for the fragile and with teeth and now he is moving on.......but we gotta remember though NIN is mostly trent though.......
But i did see NIN last week in Orlando and it was excellent....... and Alex Carapetis is an amazing drummer.... better than jerome in my opinion........

"i just ate.... so fucking what... no drummer for a techno band. wow... drum machines bitch"

Too bad they're not techno and need a live drummer just like every other legit band, right?

"I say get rid of the poser guitar player and bring back Robin!!!!Also is Trent tryin to look like Danzig with those Python arms?Somebody give him a needle and a half ounce of Black Tar!!!"

Aaron North happens to be a pretty damn talented guitarest, and I'm pretty sure that Trent and Rick split for a reason. And I really hope you're kidding about the black tar.... You do realize that that shit almost killed him and that he's worked really hard to stay sober, right? I don't know about you, but I've suffered my own share of addictions and I can respect someone who has the strength to get out of it and the balls to throw themselves back into the spotlight like that, I'm not meaning to sound like a bitch, but give some respect where it is due.

As for the actual topic here; Jerome is an awesome drummer, and I, personally don't care why he's not with NIN anymore. I can still be a fan (of both him and NIN; what a fucking concept) and follow his career anyway. It makes me sad to see him leave, but like he said, it opened up a lot of doors for him, now it's time he walked through them and moved on. Trent will find someone to play for them, believe me. It may take a while, but he will.
