OZZY OSBOURNE: 'I Had Absolutely Nothing To Do With' IRON MAIDEN Sabotage

Launch Radio Networks reports: Ozzfest co-founder Sharon Osbourne is apparently unrepentant about her attempt to sabotage IRON MAIDEN's last appearance on this past summer's edition of the festival. But Ozzy Osbourne himself told Launch that he wasn't exactly sure what happened that night, and wanted nothing to do with it either way. "I had absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with what went down, because I do not condone any of that kind of crap," he said. "Even though the singer was saying bad things, so I heard, I never heard it 'cause I'd never went and seen them. But that very night, the bass player (Steve Harris) comes into my dressing room and said to me, 'I'd like to apologize for our singer.' I was absolutely confused what this guy was on about."
Sharon Osbourne messed with MAIDEN's sound and had the band pelted with eggs onstage after claiming that lead singer Bruce Dickinson had made disparaging remarks about her husband throughout the tour.
In an interview with Attitude magazine, Sharon Osbourne said that she hated Dickinson but still respected his band, explaining, "The band are actually really nice guys, but the singer has a chip on his shoulder...He never once thanked us for the tour. People don't behave like that. I tell you, though. This guy got the singer with a fucking egg right in the middle of his brow — what a star!"
The incident occurred on August 20 in San Bernardino, California. VELVET REVOLVER replaced MAIDEN on the tour for the last seven shows. MAIDEN manager Rod Smallwood later lashed out at Sharon Osbourne publicly, saying, "In 30 years in this business...I have never seen anything anywhere near as disgusting and unprofessional as what went on that night."

Maybe Steve Harris was just trying to be nice to the Osbourne camp. Even though Bruce Dickinson has that habbit of being a little bit loose in his shoes, he totally speaks the truth. What he said reflected what a lot of us metalheads were feeling.
If you still think that only a few people hate Sharon Osbourne, I suggest you take a good hard look at the "Metal Fans Against Sharon Osbourne" Petition because, trust me, there are WAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY more than just a few people who hate Sharon Osbourne.

Okay :) I'll take a look at it. However, I still seriously doubt that the petition is anywhere NEAR the entire world as one poster suggested.
In regards to Bruce being 'right' about what he said: that isn't really my stance. My stance is that Bruce and company were being paid a large amount of money to play Ozzfest (this coming out of Ozzy's money I assume) Not to mention Sharon and Ozzy giving him the opportunity to play in front of so many here in the USA - after all of that - bashing ozzy (on his festivle) and bashing American fans (in america while taking their money) is deserving of an egg or two in my opinion.

Sharon: way more wrong - take the fucking high road and "remove" IM (and thereby Bruce) from the rest of the tour
Kelly: even waaaay more wrong: don't throw eggs and say you weren't there. 40,000 witnesses vs. you? c'mon.
All in all, something tells me we'll all be flaming over this a year from now... as Ozzfest '06 and MaidenFest '06 are comparred and contrasted ad nausea.

Hey, it's me again, the "top 10" guy. I do love Sabbath and Maiden equally. I'm just a bit more partial to Dickinson over Osbourne 'cause he's got a better voice and his solo albums, "Chemical Wedding" in particular, are great and very under-rated. Ozzy's solo stuff is either terrible or way over-rated. Even his first few albums are merely good, but not spectacular.

First of all, you're taking the word of OZZY that Steve Harris actually WALKED into his dressing room and apologized for Bruce Dickinson's behavior??? Have any of you read "RUN TO THE HILLS", the story of Iron Maiden??? I don't think Steve Harris is apologizing for nothing but being one of the best bass players ever to grace a stage. Professional or Not!! Bruce Dickinson has had his rants for years starting from when I saw them at MSG in 2000. So why, 5 years later, would Steve Harris APOLOGIZE to anyone for anything he said on stage?? To me, this just seems like Ozzy was advised on what to say when asked about that infamous egg throwing fiasco. I don't believe it for one second that any of what he said actually happened.
As far as Sharon goes, she's a horrible piece of shit for even inciting the egg throwing. No Matter what Bruce said about the Osbournes, he's entitled to his opinion of how his band was treated. Just like Sharon is entitled to her opinion on Bruces solo records, even though we all know she didn't hear a goddamn note of any songs, but she's entitled to her (fake) opinion. I'm willing to bet Bruce was RIGHT all the way. Paying to play on OZZfest and then getting treated horribly throughout the tour wouldn't fly under my watch either. Am I wrong, or is this the first time ever that Maiden has ever been slagged from another band (or management) they've toured with??

Oh, sweet dear Lord. Your post has got to be the dumbest fucking thing I've ever read. Okay, Where to start: 1.)Sabbath's "Heaven and Hell" had just as much influence on Power Metal as Maiden. 2.) Power Metal is good (sometimes) 3.) Yeah, Sabbath are the godfathers of metal, and everyone including Maiden are indebted to them, but Maiden has just as big of an influence and inspiration to metal today. 4.) Maiden's "Brave New World" & "Dance of Death" and Dickinson's "tyranny of Souls" is a lot better than A FUCKING COVER SONG WITH MISS PIGGY!!!!!!! (Dude, it's true. Ozz and the muppet did a duet of "born to be wild" Look it up).

Of course, the petition isn't anywhere near the entire world, but it's gettin' there. What Bruce said was you'll never hear Iron Maiden on U.S. radio, see them on MTV or on a reality show.
Sharon Osbourne fails to understand Iron Maiden's stage show. She said in a statement that it offended her every night seeing Bruce Dickinson take out the British flag and forget about the American troops fighting in Iraq and all that. Every single Iron Maiden fan (myself included) is very familiar with the Maiden classic, "The Trooper," and they know damn well why Bruce waves the Union Jack everytime the band performs the song live. "The Trooper" is about "The Charge of the Light Brigade," a Britsh battle that took place during the Crimean War about a few centuries ago. America was never involved in that war and it would make absolutely no sense if the American flag was waved during the performance of "The Trooper."
Try to understand, Dead Of Winter, Bruce Dickinson is NOT Anti-American. He is only against Corporate America, which is obviously what Sharon Osbourne sold Ozzy out to.

Ozzfest is like the Wal-Mart of metal...to me anyway. I'm sure there were financial motives in doing it. Obviously Maiden hasn't had the exposure in the US they once had, so it was probably viewed by their mgt. as an opportunity.
The fans are lining up on Maiden's side not only because of the mountains of talent, but they recognize that Maiden is commited to continue as a valid entity and not a historic name whored out as a touring carcass.

The whole Osbore shtick is unbelievably tedious, petty, boring, stupid, egocentric, smug and showbizzy, and has had its day. Sharon and her cowardly 'friends' have shot themselves in their collective foot! I don't own a single Iron Maiden record, but they have more integrity than Ozzy, who has repeated the same old stories time after time after time, never learned to sing, and married a woman who acts and looks like Cherie Blair. Yawn of yawns. Bruce Dickinson at least has a brain.
