MÖTLEY CRÜE's TOMMY LEE: London Charity Appearance Announced
- Nov. 4, 2005
MÖTLEY CRÜE drummer Tommy Lee has teamed up with the U.K.'s "Our World, Our Say" charity, who are campaigning to raise awareness of and oppose the ID Cards Bill & the National Identity Register, which is being pushed through the British parliament right now. The bill is said to be "a gross infringement of human rights, opens up massive possibility for identity fraud, and will cost British citizens over £300 per person."
Lee will be performing at the Medicine Bar in London on Wednesday, November 9 to raise money for the charity. Tommy and other performers on the bill — DJ Adam Freeland, DJ Aero, Plump DJs and Evil 9 — will be appearing free of charge.

"Oppose the National ID"?? The only people opposed to it are either criminals/ illegal immigrants /council tax dodgers/ those with something to hide. National ID will make things so much easier, and in the light of the current security dabacle in the UK has got to be a good idea. Plus, although the scheme will cost £5.8bn over 10 years, the home secretary has unveiled a cut-price £30 ID card. So its not THAT bad news. Anyhow why is Tommy Lee as a USA citizen butting into a matter that is a UK matter?

ID cards really work eh !!!! What do you do work for a company with a vested interest in this waste of money. Tighter border controls will combat immigration, more police would combat crime, and more investment in benfit fraud would cure the tax issue. Now wouldn't that £5 billion cover some of this???
A fricking piece of card that will be able to be forged will not. Plus in answer to your National Security point. I am lead to believe you will have 72 hours to present your card to a Police Station is stopped and found not to be carrying it. Will that give a terrorist second thought.....Oh I'd better not blow that up as I'm due at such and such station in 72 hours????
THIS IS NOTHING BUT A TOTAL WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY.
