'2005 Darrell Abbott Memorial Show' Lineup Announced

TRENDKILL ("The Ultimate PANTERA Tribute"), DOWNSHIFT and THE LIFELESS DESIGN are among the confirmed bands for "The 2005 Darrell Abbott Memorial Show", set to take place Saturday, December 10 at Chez Paree in Carter Lake, Iowa. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Dimebag Darrell Memorial Fund, which has been set up to help the victims of the Alrosa Villa shootings in Columbus, Ohio on December 8, 2004, which took the life of late PANTERA/ DAMAGEPLAN guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott, DAMAGEPLAN's head of security, Jeffrey "Mayhem" Thompson, an employee of the club, Erin Halk, and a member of the audience, Nathan Bray. I've seen trendkill with Lamb of God up in Lubbock, and they were a pretty bad ass tribute band. the crowd was going crazy for them! it was late december of last year, everybody gave props to Dime.

if anybody, and I mean anybody is doing any kind of tribute for Dime and the others who lost their lives that night, I am ALL for it!! Same old shit-talking fools on here claiming they are doing it for promoting themselves...give me a break. I still think of that horrible morning waking up to that news, trying not to believe it, hoping it wasn't true. I know that the world is a little less fun without him around now....and some of us really miss him. I hope every city has a Dimebag tribute show, so we can all just stop a minute and remember what a cool motherfucker he was and always will be.

You'd think that the metal community would show some support for one of their fallen, but no. There is a Dime tribute in Toronto on Dec 8th @ the Reverb. No "Big" named bands, not superstars. Just a few bands playing a fucking show to remeber The Musician that was taken from us Wayyyy too fuckin early. Check it out if you are in the Toronto Area. Dec 8th, 8pm, @ the Reverb, 19+ show.

ANG was actually right, and the other people that posted after him, it doesn't take big names to pay tribute to someone. We have a local show happening here next month that no big names are going to be on. It's just a way to pay tribute to someone who really kicked ass. RIP Dime.

I think it's great someone is doing a tribute show, but a tribute show by more established musicians and friends of Pantera would seem more legitimate and less like a cash and publicity grab.

I am Nate Bray's mom and there has never been any money contributed in memory of Nate. I keep seeing this in all the promotions for these benefit concerts and just wanted to set the record straight. Our local bands have been great with the benefit concerts for Nate and his memory.

If you never recieved any money than would you mind explaining how the check we sent to your bank set up for the nathan bray fund/memorial cleared back in February?
This is really low to be going on the internet and trying to deface our company when we were one of the people who reacted quickly to try and help and paid for everything out of our own pockets due to the fact that the venue/radio/newspaper/sound and lighting crew would not do it for free or even at a discount.
Then let's throw in putting you guys up in hotel rooms out of our own pocket as well. It's really nice to feel appreciated by someone you're only trying to help, and yet we are doing it again in December out of our own pocket and have the help of a ton of local and regional bands.
We do NOT try and make a profit out of this, merely make back exspenses and split the rest with all of the established funds set up, and this year we are also helping hurricane relief efforts.

This is Matt, Drummer for The Pantera Tribute band ' TRENDKILL ' ... We do this for the love of the music... Pantera will always be our favorite band, so that is why we play Pantera music.... We were doing this long before Darrell was taken from us....We are trying to make a buck off of the incident that occured last year.... If you have questions about the Dimebag Memorial Fund, you should probly ask the people who run it... Negative posts on Blabbermouth are pointless..... Pantera was a band, and fans deserve to hear there music....

I think what Susan was trying to find out about was THE DIMEBAG MEMORIAL FUND. Unless you are the person doing the accounting for that specific fund, you wouldn't know whether or not her family received anything. Not to mention that everywhere you see the fund talked about it never mentions Nathan Bray or Stoney Halk. What are you talking about giving her money for then?

We're a Dimebag Darrell Tribute Band formed in may 2005, after considerable stewing on the necessity of Dime 's legacy continuing... I'm sure we'll cross paths a some point in the future....
