RUSH Members Seeking Millions Over New Year's Scuffle

John Henderson of the Naples Daily News has issued the following report: Members of the internationally known rock group RUSH are seeking "tens of millions of dollars" in federal court from Collier County Sheriff's Office deputies and the Naples hotel where their lead guitarist was involved in a New Year's Eve scuffle. In an amended complaint recently filed to a civil lawsuit, Alex Zivojinovich's fellow band members could now become plaintiffs in the case, and end up testifying locally in depositions or at trial. Filed in U.S. District Court in Fort Myers, the amended complaint requests that singer Geddy Lee Weinrib and drummer Neil Peart, as well as different RUSH management companies, become new plaintiffs. The lawsuit is seeking damages in excess of $75,000. Zivojinovich's lawyer Michael McDonnell said the actual damages to the band add up to "tens of millions of dollars." The amended lawsuit states that the injuries suffered by Zivojinovich at the hands of deputies caused a reduction in the band's touring performances and recording sessions, which resulted in a loss of revenue. But Richard Giuffreda, a Fort Lauderdale attorney who represents the deputies and is being paid from a Sheriff's Office insurance fund, said the judge in the case would have to allow the other band members to be brought into the case. He expects the judge will, but said that doesn't mean the allegation will be proven. Read more at NaplesNews.com.

Screw those PIGS in Florida. They got all up in it for no good reason. I've met Alex Lifeson, trust me, he's not that big and not really a threat to anyone. The cops got all excited because they heard "rock star" on the radio and figured it was time for the 15 minutes of fame. This overzealous posturing from the law enforcement needs to be seriously addressed and if this is a way to calm these gun-toting para-military asswipes down, then so be it. I love Rush next to breathing and sex so when you mess with MY band, I have no pity to what happens to you.

funny I've made it through 37 years and havent sued anyone. I have property in 4 states and a IRA close to 7 digits. I own 4 classic cars and 3 houses. I havent had to sue anybody. People who sue are money grubbing bitches and most of the time arent worth the paper you wipe your ass with. They want the easy way out and want to blame other people for them being dickheads. How about personal responsibility? How about doing what you are supposed to do? The way our society functions is to act like a fucking human and get to work. Not be a fucking washed up ex star drunk who thinks he's entitled to do whatever he wants.

As far as Enron...my wife works for a blue chip fortune 500 corp and we invest all of the money that would be in her retirement fund into our IRA. Its part of taking personal responsiblity and not trusting anyone. Who the fuck will save your ass if you need it? no one. Never depend on anyone. Take care of yourselves and treat people with respect and you will be ahead of the game at all times. Move your money around and never trust multi billion dollar corps. They only care about the bottom line. I wouldnt trust them as far as I could throw their accountant.

Obviously corporations like enron acted in an illegal fashion and they should be punished for it. Not just punitively but with jail time. They fucked the people that built them. Thats a lesson right there.

I've even met several off duty cops that were friends of friends & they really are nothing but underpaid bullies that LOVE to abuse their power. Most of them are very dumb & ignorant. That's why they are so angry, it's one of the ONLY jobs they can hold. Florida is SO desperate for cops, the only people they can get are the people that are not competent enough to hold regular jobs. It's a very sad reality. The cops here do this kind of stuff to people ALL the time & they laugh about it. It's about time someone with plenty of $$$ can actually stand up for themselves. If these cops had the SLIGHTEST bit of intelligence they could have resolved this very easily without it getting out of control. This is exactly what happens when you give dumb ignorant rednecks a badge & a gun that do not have the ability to maintan law & order. That's part of their JOB! Not just to start cracking heads because they can.

Take these pricks and make them pay. I'm sure this isn't the first time these dicks have pulled this kind of stuff. Wasn't the case against Lifeson already dismissed? Not much evidence to hold up the cops case. There are good cops and there are abusers. Lifeson is a pretty mellow guy and plays guitar better than you.

Most people who say Rush has sucked for a decade have not really listened to Rush in a decade. Their loss. BTW, rock bands do not make that much $ if you look at the big picture. There are some exceptions but it's still very, very rare. There is more money in the toilet paper industry than there is in popular music.
Give the band a break. Do you really want to root for the security assholes anyway? Would you have complained if the Lifesons wanted to play a couple tunes at your New Yrs Eve party? Ya right!

Rush Has Sucked hmm your loss I guess those 2 sold out shows a RCMH in NYC means they suck um yeah I guess Yeah RIGHT!!!!.For the most part I gor to meet those guys and I have never met any rockstars like them I have been going to there concerts and they have been asking people bring canned goods and people brought them.I have gone to other concerts and never see that passion in any other band!.These guys show a good example and ts nice that I see people bring there kids to Rush shows no curseing no degrading woman just great music.Look alittle deeper people before you say uh duh Rush sucks 30 yrs people how many other bands Rock bands are around with that intensity and such rabid loyal fans (well ok Kiss lol) Its all good Rush stick it to them I'll be at your concert next year! \m/ \m/

Some cops are good dudes. I like to think most are. Some are bullies who think (quite rightly in most cases) they're above the law.
If I had a son I would probably lose my composure seeing him struck down with a weapon. Does anybody really think a guy in Alex's position is going to get involved in this kind of thing without a great deal of provocation? This isn't Tommy Lee we're talking about.
Vapor Trails was the best set of songs these guys put out since... Well since Test For Echo. But it was an absolute triumph! I'm in the minority who enjoyed the asymmetrical and dense mix.
