SLIPKNOT Frontman To Produce New FACECAGE Album - Nov. 28, 2005
STONE SOUR/SLIPKNOT frontman Corey Taylor is currently hard at work with Des Moines, Iowa-based metallers FACECAGE on their next independent release.

Formed in 2001, FACECAGE have grown into a powerhouse live act and an independent D.I.Y. (do-it-yourself) success story. Taylor describes the band as "the heaviness of SEPULTURA, the groove of [BLACK] SABBATH, the dark melodies of the Midwest and the drive of one hundred bands from either coast." Taylor added: "I've seen [FACECAGE] work very hard, go through various changes, pay their dues and become a great band over the years. I'm very proud of them. Success doesn't come without sweat."

When asked about the recording process so far, Taylor stated that it's going "very, VERY well. . . I see them breaking out further and hitting the national circuit. If they can stay as competitive, poignant and focused as they have in the past, they have a chance of making it."

Last summer, Taylor was approached by longtime friend and collaborator Denny Harvey about the possibility of producing FACECAGE's next album. Harvey and his (515) Management Group have managed FACECAGE for the last two years.

Said Harvey: "Corey has been a friend and confidant to FACECAGE for some time and he was ecstatic to be a part of this. He has watched FACECAGE go from playing clubs and paying their dues to becoming a Midwestern success story. This is really the next step for the band and a chance for them to work together, something Corey has been interested in for awhile now."

FACECAGE has independently released two albums so far: "Facecage" (2001) and "II" (2004).

When asked about the future of FACECAGE, Taylor had some stern advice for those who would stand in the band's way: "Whoever signs them better be ready to keep up, because if they can't they've wasted a great band's opportunity. So don't waste our time if you're not ready for history."

"Facecage III" is tentatively due next summer.

FACECAGE is:

Matt Nyberg - Vocals
Fred Missouri - Bass
Erik Long - Guitar
Sam Dooley - Drums

I saw these guys a couple of times and I wasn't too impressed. I believe there are alot of other BETTER bands out there. These guys are a cookie cutter. But, that is what the whole music business is about these days.

I'm a huge fan of FaceCage, having seen them almost a dozen times, and I can tell you that this is a legit band that deserves every bit of attention they get for this. Few bands I've seen, signed or not, can rival the live show that FaceCage puts on, and this album is guaranteed to fucking destroy.

Well I listen to there songs on there website and not very impressed by them. The band just seems like 1000 other bands that are out. I really didn't hear much diversity in the music. The sound and production sounds great the music is just lacking diversity. Nothing in any of songs really sets them apart. Maybe Taylor can change that.

I don't think Corey Taylor is the first person I'd contact to produce my album, but I'm sure these guys aren't very talented anyway.

good job using his name to get some attention. apparently they haven't been able to get big and now are resorting to this to get a little buzz before they make a real push? whatever.

I agree...cookie cutter. Though I haven't seen them in a couple of years. The first and only time that I seen them was at the first Metal Fest that Omaha tried to get going. They came out on stage talking that they were a metal band and all this jibber-jabber and they start playing...nothing but complete Korn idoltry. Vocalist had all the mannerisms of Jonathan Davis. That ruined it for me.

Maybe they've grown into their own since then, I just can't bring myself to check them out.

Corey's only doing this to pull in some money. This band isn't even mediocre, they're just horrible. What a cliche nu-metal name too. Death to psuedo metal shit like FaceCage and all of this utter rubbish.
