Lawsuit Against Rhode Island Town Over GREAT WHITE Club Fire Can Proceed, Judge Rules - Dec. 1, 2005

Jennifer Vineyard of MTV News has issued the following report:

The lawsuits over the GREAT WHITE fire that left 100 dead and more than 200 injured almost three years ago at a Rhode Island nightclub aren't over yet.

A federal judge has refused to dismiss a massive negligence case against the town of West Warwick, which was filed by more than 250 people who were injured or lost family members in the February 2003 blaze, including the girlfriend of late GREAT WHITE guitarist Ty Longley.

In his ruling, U.S. District Court Judge Ronald Lagueux granted a motion to dismiss the state of Rhode Island from liability in the case, declaring the state immune, but said that he would not do the same for the town of West Warwick, since the fire could have been the fault of local officials.

	i feel bad for the people who died but all this suing is not gonna bring any of them back. besides, sorry to say but you must have had nothing to do that day if you ended up attending a great white show at a radio station. some guy on the radio said, "my heart goes out to those people but they must have had nothing to live for if they were at a great white show"

	as I replied to your similar comment in the last Anselmo thread, the fuckhead didn't just walk in the door with the gun. He climbed over a 6 foot plus fence and came in a side door. This could have happened at probably 50% of the smaller clubs in this country if not more unfortunately.

	hate to say it but they are responsible it is there job to check for fire exits and safety including flameable substances the fact they missed it makes them liable for allowing them to stay open...

	You know I think there were a lot of factors that caused The Station Nightclub Fire that killed my Best Friend Tina Marie Ayer and 99 others on 2-20-03. There is one important fact here, who brought in the illegal pyro to begin with? Did the club buy them? Did they belong to the opening band? No, Great White brought their pyro to The Statopm after making burn marks on the ceiling in the NJ nightclub called The Stone Pony the night before. GREAT WHITE brought in and lit off the pyro. What is so hard to understand there? They knew it was illegal but they didn't seem to give a good shit. BTW, go to http://boycottgreatwhite.atspace.com/ and see their non mention of pyro in their rider. In my eyes and other families and survivors, they are nothing but SCUM who not only killed 100 people and injured 200 plus but then they exploited it ny a bogus tour from where they lie about giving 100 percent, when in fact, they gave less than 30 percent to The Family Fund.
