SEPULTURA Finalize Track Listing For 'Dante XXI'
- Dec. 2, 2005
|
|
|
Brazilian thrashers SEPULTURA have finalized the track listing for their new album, "Dante XXI", due in early 2006 via SPV Records.
SEPULTURA's 11th full-length album, "Dante XXI" was recorded at Trama Studios in São Paulo, Brazil, where the group had previously laid down the "Revolusongs" EP, which contained cover versions of songs from such acts as MASSIVE ATTACK to HELLHAMMER to JANE'S ADDICTION (and was included in the limited-edition digipack version of 2003's "Roorback").
Working under the watchful eye of producer Andre Moraes (with whom they've previously worked on various Brazilian film soundtracks), SEPULTURA's follow-up to "Roorback" is based on the epic poetic masterpiece "The Divine Comedy" written by Italian author Dante Alighieri in the early 14th Century. The three main components of "The Divine Comedy" are Dante's descriptions of Hell, Purgatory and Paradise.
In addition to the 10 tracks that are set to appear on "Dante XXI", SEPULTURA recorded two cover songs — JUDAS PRIEST's "Screaming for Vengeance" and SICK OF IT ALL's "Scratching the Surface" — which will be released as single b-sides in the future.
"Dante XXI" track listing:
01. Dark Wood of Error 02. Convicted In Life 03. City of Dis 04. False 05. Fighting On 06. Ostia 07. Buried Words 08. Nuclear Seven 09. Repeating the Horror 10. Crown and Miter 11. Still Flame

i've only liked a few songs on each of the last few Sepultura albums, but i'll always stick by 'em.
and in my humble opinion, Soulfly's "Dark Ages" IS the proper follow-up to Chaos A.D. finally.

The new DVD FUCKING KILLS FROM START TO FINISH. Derrick is a GREAT replacement for Max and I've got the feeling that Dante XXI is gonna be the heaviest and best record with Derrick behind the mic. I CANNOT WAIT TO HEAR IT:

The new Soulfly album (Dark Ages) is GREAT though. Max went back to his Roots (not the album!) and there are plenty of thrash riffs, killer solos (Marc Rizzo is a top class shredder) and fast and truly violent songs on it. Also there are no more "nu" riffs or "rap" parts. It kicks ass.

But there is nothing wrong with any jumpdafuckup riffs. That makes the shows fun and its nice for some songs to actually have an understandable flow (not saying anything about old sep or anything like that). Its just you don't want every song to be like that. Even if they had a rap part it wouldn't be bad. Man people really hate rap and metal mixed but its not bad if you can do it right. When you have a front man with roots reaching back into some of the heaviest music and mix it with rap in just the right way, it can be sick. Nothing wrong with Bongos either. The crowd response is great when they bring those out. You guys forget they are from Brazil and have a truly tribal culture down there. Shit is so off the meat in S.P. Brazil that you can try and say anything you want bad about them and you'd still be a pussy b/c you could never go through anything like what some of those dudes have. GO watch City of God and then tell me how tough you think you are then.

Ok, let me guess, you are a 13-14 year old white suburban kid, right?
Not that race has anything to do with it..but it's been proven in studies that thanks to people that fit your possible demographic the rest of us had to endure the whole "nu-metal" nightmare.
If your demographic really wanted to rebel against parents you would have listened to real metal, but judging by your tastes I guess real metal scares you all.

When some of you poeple say the roots of sepultura is thrash metal, that is bullshit. The roots of sepultura lie within the album roots. Sepultura are brazilian, their real roots are tribal, not metal. Any brazilian fan knows this shit so lay off the stupid fucking metal crap already. And the new album will not be old school thrash. Havent you people learned already? Or do you want to live in complete ignorance the rest of your life? Listen to the band, not just the music and that goes for all bands that take chances with their music unlike most metal bands who are stuck in a box.

don't you guys get it. for those of you who have seen max with soulfly perform live, bear with me because i know you know what I'm talking about.
as much as i hate to admit it...max has lost it...particularly his voice, he just let the crowd sing the lyrics for him... last time i saw them with throwdown... it was just agonizing to see him perfom like that ... Derrick is the future...Max is tha past.
